🏕 Beautiful yet Deadly 🏞
🚗 2nd Stop: (on our X-Country Trip) Yellowstone National Park 🗺
Fun story... following a 10 hour drive that day, we arrived to find all the campsites were full! We decided to park it and camp out next to a couple of RVs on the side of the highway. The stars were breathtaking! We woke up to the most amazing view of a river running through Rockies. What a night to remember! 🤩
Iceland is located on both the Iceland hotspot and the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, resulting in numerous active volcanoes, geysers, and steam vents. Because of all this constant bubbling, the country is able to run all of its electricity and heating off of geothermal and hydro power. A totally self-sustaining system! At the southern tip of the Reykjanes Peninsula, you can find many of these mud pools, which contain boiling steam vents that smell strongly of sulphur, and will burn you to death if you fail to step with caution!
Ok so we were talking in the van today as we drove from one smash hit to another, and... I think this is a little controversial, but maybe the #GoldenCircle is a little bit overrated...? Sure the National Park is beautiful, and the #geyser is cool but we feel like todays drive from Selfoss to a place called Kirkjubær was even better. I guess we’ll see what tomorrow brings!
#geyser#geysir#iceland#islandia#erupção#strokkur#goldencircle
