This was my first big holiday that I wasn’t able to bake with The Ugly Pie. I’m feeling a lot of mixed emotions but more than anything I am so grateful that these girls are a part of my life. They kicked ass this Thanksgiving, as they always do, despite the looooong hours and pulling an all nighter. I am so beyond proud to call you my business partners. How'd you sleep last night? Every night is a new adventure for me with sleep, so if your sleep is meh - I feel you. 🌙
Here is what I've been looking at....in addition to cutting back on stimulants, exercising daily and upping my Omega oils, two plants in particular have been super helpful - Hops and Valerian root. Valerian root has been studied and proven to promote GABA within the body. GABA is an inhibitory brain neurotransmitter, in other words it helps us to chill out. (Those with chronic anxiety are generally deficient in GABA). Hops is also known as a soother, but its real strength is as a sedative. It helps cool core body temp and has been studied to stimulate melatonin action within the body. 🌙
Whether it's hormone disruption, neurotransmitter imbalance (aka anxiety), or the spirits wanting to slumber party, our bodies need this reset. ... The last 2 days I got minimal sleep (Bryn kept waking up... like 4 times a night), I wasn't drinking enough water, I have been stressed, those monthly lady hormones are just FAB (NOT!!!), and I have been eating like garbage.
... This is what happens when you do that. My 31 yr old skin magically reverted back to 16. Seriously, in just 2 days. ... I know so many people post what we deem to be "perfect" pics (seriously they probably took 80 pics to get that one) and all we do is compare compare compare.
... THIS IS REAL LIFE! Stop beating yourself up. All we need to do is reflect, refocus, and refresh mind, body, and soul because although skin is the facáde... it is what is going on inside that will be the game changer!
Remember to care for your mind, body and spirit during the holidays.
Plan ahead for uncomfortable situations with a "safe spot."
Maintain your regular sleep, exercise and eating patterns.
Accept things or family members that you can't change.

I love a good foot pocket! You know when you're awake in the morning but haven't really opened your eyes yet and you can revel in having warm feet tucked up in a cosy corner of your duvet? I live for those moments. (And yes, I'm in my thirties. Why do you ask? 😉)
As my 7 year old and 3 year old start chatting in the next room I whisper to myself, "I promise I'll go to bed earlier tonight" - like, every single morning.
Oh sleep, sweet sleep. How much better life is when you get good, restful sleep 😴 Our bodies need that time to heal & rejuvenate, & without it our health suffers. I have a few things I personally do at night to make sure I get good sleep because I am a miserable human if I’m tired (I’m not in denial 🙋🏻♀️) & with this growing babe inside, I need all the help I can get. Here is what I do every night for sleep.
💤30 mins before I’m crawling into bed, I start the diffuser. Do this before your going to sleep so your room can already be filled with the wonderful aroma before you lay down (I shut all the doors to trap the smell in too 🤗). I don’t have a set diffuser blend I do every night, I mix it up based on what I’m feeling.
😴Then after I brush my teeth I will do 2 drops of Copaiba under my tongue to help calm my nervous system down & help my mind settle. I will also take a Serenity gel cap if I am wide awake & need some additional help slowing down.
💤Then I will put on some Serenity oil 💜 Always on the back of my neck, temples & wrists. I will either put Balance (If I have had a stressful day)or Serenity (if I really need a good nights rest) on my feet & put on socks.
🛏Last but not least I spray my pillows with a sleepy time bed spray. The blend varies every season based on my needs, this particular season has Breathe in it so that congestion doesn’t bother me in the night & wake me up.

Here is my current concoction:
✨25 drops Serenity
✨15 drops Copaiba
✨15 drops Breathe
✨12 drops Cedarwood
✨ 3/4 water
✨1/4 witch hazel
