Woooooo-y!!!! I did a new thing tonight. My schedule had me doing some cross training so I was searching through prime video to see what they had for fitness. I was very surprised to see they had a bunch of stuff from yoga to kickboxing to Zumba to strength training. So tonight I decided on some strength training. This got me sweating. It was tough but it felt good to work my muscles. So even though today this mama bear did not run, she crushed some cross training. Finished the circuit by doing some ab work. Thirty-seven days ⁣

I am 37 days into this amazing 8 week program (over half way through). ⁣
⁣
Not much "progress" to show from the prevous, but mentally there's progress. ⁣
⁣
I had a rough week last week - from starting aunt flow, being bitchy, whiny, tired, lazy and let's be honest ... I might have had too many carbs and sugar .. hello peanut M&Ms (I told Ben he's not aloud to buy them anymore). ⁣
⁣
But what I DIDN'T do was GIVE UP!⁣
⁣
I would have several years ago ... actually I did ... over and over and over!⁣
⁣
Just because we have bad moments, bad days, bad weeks or months doesn't mean we GIVE UP. ⁣
⁣
Throw yourself a pitty party and get your a$$ back up!⁣
⁣
Nothing in life will EVER be exactly as you want it, it's up to YOU to figure out HOW you're going to deal with it. ⁣
⁣
So this weekend I was done my pitty party and got back on track nutrition wise by doing some meal prepping and preparing for a busy week. ⁣
⁣
I actually feeling stronger physically and mentally because I didn't beat myself up and dive head deep in the M&Ms 😉 lol!⁣
⁣
So blessed to be on this journey of physical and MENTAL strength. ⁣
⁣
But seriously. If you're going through your own pitty party, THAT'S FINE. I want you to promise YOURSELF that tomorrow you'll change that and move forward!⁣

I promise you won't regret it!

So I’m still back and forth to the hospital however even tho I’m not working out the way I normally do I am still on point with food. Sometimes life throws you a curve so you just have to lean into it! I’m going to be back on track soon. I have faith that all this is going to turn around and healing for my friend will happen. I believe this heart and soul. Until then I will keep using the stairs and doing squats in a hospital room and keep my food on point! ...

I wasn’t that ahead of the curve as it's been around since 2008-ish, nor did I really use it correctly when I first was learning about it. 
Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE) is always there whether you measure it or not. Just like weight on the bar or the number of reps done in a given set, it is a training metric. The question is, are you going to measure it and are you going to base any training decisions off of it?

You can use it in a more prescriptive way, such as auto-regulating training by adjusting load to match performance leading up to your working weight (go heavier on a good day, lighter on a bad day). Or you can use it in more of a descriptive way, such as working up to a target weight planned for the day, and record RPE and then adjust weight the next week. 
Some people just don’t like RPE. It’s a tool, and every tool has its strengths and weaknesses. I see it as an excellent way to have more control on generating the correct stress for the lifter within the context of the program. When you’re doing compound movements multiple times a week I have found RPE to be paramount in my ability to recover and am currently under the impression that it is one of the most useful training tools in the toolbox.

If you don't like drinking plain water try adding Lemon or Lime (or your favorite Citrus) essential oils to your water... They taste GREAT!!! 👍

When adding oils to your water make sure you're drinking from a glass or stainless steel water bottle or cup. Essential oils can break down petrochemicals and other synthetic materials found in plastics and you don't want to ingest those chemicals.

I’m in a stormy season right now.  The winds of change are blowing. And there are a few trials testing my family and I.

I can honestly tell you that every single day I am SO grateful for the habits and boundaries I have established to take care of myself.  Without them, I would not be able to love and serve my people well in this season.  I would be a wreck.

So many times we think we don’t have time to fit in exercise.  Or time to grocery shop.  Or cook food.  Because we want to serve others.  But I have come to find it’s quite the opposite.  We can't afford not to find the time.  Because without us being at our best, we simply cannot give what we don’t have.

Feeding ourselves well and exercising our bodies helps us mentally and physically strong and capable.  It helps us fight anxiety and depression.  It gives us energy.  It helps us have stamina to love and serve those we’ve been called to.  It improves our mood.
⛈
I waited until I was in my early 40’s to get committed to my health and fitness.  And I now wish SO much that I had started long before.  To think of the difference it would have made in my life and the life of my family.

Today I walk through a stormy season with structure and routine set in place around the way I care for myself.  My scheduled workouts, the foods I fuel my body with, good sleep, and grace… lots and lots of grace…. are so key in navigating the way through!

Rice and Bean Sauce?! or Riced Cauliflower and Bean Sauce?!

You guys know that I am a Caribbean girl. Haitian-American🇭🇹 to be exact! That being said, rice is a staple in my life😋. I make rice of some sort just about every week, especially for my husband who is also Haitian-American and for my kids who are becoming rice-lovers themselves. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
For those of you who love rice like I do but wonder how you can switch it up a bit during the week so you’re not having rice every day (trust me us Haitians can eat rice EVERY SINGLE DAY!!!), try THIS! Or THAT!

I don’t really 100% like calling this riced cauliflower because for someone like my husband who is very black and white, hearing rice only means one thing and he is very much about his rice. But this is what mainstream is calling it, so I’m going to go with it. 😂

I made bean sauce, a staple in the Haitian community, just the way we like it. I also made white jasmine rice with carrots.  To switch it up when I want to, I also made riced cauliflower and added carrots for color.  So instead of making a complete substitute of a whole meal, I swapped out one item, cauliflower, for the white rice.  My taste buds are happy either way!

This is not to say that you should not eat white rice or that cauliflower is better than rice. This is to show you options that you can use to change it up a bit. The choice is always yours! You can eat THIS or THAT!

Lately I haven't been too uplifting or positive with my progress or my results. But I've also noticed a trend lately. We always tend to look at ourselves in a negative light. We always focus on what we DON'T have instead of what we DO have. 
So...I took a step back and made a list of everything that I DO have that I am proud of. And you know what??? Now I see the progress and am happy with my results. I don't need a chiseled 6 pack to be happy. I'm not where I was 2 months ago when I was cut and shredded for my bikini competition. And you know what?? I'm okay with that. Because I'm happy. I make progress every day on my health and fitness. But I also like to live my life every day too. 
Being happy with yourself is ALL that matters. ❤️

So... I have a habit of being totally transparent...and I feel the need to do this right now because....O.M.G.

I did the thing. I. Did. The. Thing. 
I did this. No one else. I did this for me and my health. I did this to live a longer, happier life. I did this to enjoy my life and stop being stuck at home in pain. 
My highest weight was 280lbs, the picture from November I'm at 265lbs. I'm currently at 162lbs, I did drop lower to 145lbs however it was due to my celiac and I've bounced that weight back on (happily) 
However...I just need to acknowledge that I did the thing, I did it guys!

Peanut Butter Protein Balls
⬇️⬇️⬇️ Calories 74 per serve (1 ball= 1 serve) 
Makes 24 balls
Protein: 3.5g
Carbs: 3.9g
Fats: 5.5g

Ingredients:
•	1 cup peanut butter
•	2 scoops (60 grams) of plant-based protein powder
•	1/4 cup + 1/3 cup almond milk
•	1/2 cup rolled oats
•	1/2 tsp cinnamon
•	Handful of dark chocolate chips

Instructions:
1.	Add all ingredients to a medium mixing bowl and mix .
2.	Using a small scoop, form the balls, making sure to pack the scoop tightly.
Store: Refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 1 week or freeze for up to 3 months.

The day after I was diagnosed with #hashimotos I immediately changed my entire life around the next day. I already ate lots of gluten-free meals, but I read it was necessary to go 100% gf, 99% will not relieve Hashimoto symptoms.
I went dairy-free, soy-free and peanut-free. 
I included essential oils to support my thyroid and immune function. 
DDR Prime 3 drops in a capsule 2x daily. I also applied it diluted over my thyroid. 
Basil Oil for my adrenal fatigue. I used this one a lot in the beginning. I literally soaked my feet in basil oil diluted with fractionated coconut oil. It helps tons to fight autoimmune fatigue. 
For the first 2 weeks I added Cassia to a capsule to stabilize my blood sugar and fight candida in my blood. 
Lemon Oil - I always made sure I drank lemon oil to cleanse out my system and to keep my energy up. 
Lavender Oil for stress relief. Just putting it on my pulse points or inhaling it from my cupped hands helps my stress. 
I’m taking this exact thyroid protocol daily: 
3 drops lemongrass 
3 drops Myrrh
3 drops Frankincense 
1-2 drops On Guard (Most people add clove oil but On Guard has clove oil as well and imo it has more immunity boosting power).
Add all to a veggie capsule (you might have to use 2 capsules) and take internally 1-2 times daily. 
In addition add all 4 oils to a Roller.
Top it off with fractionated coconut oil and apply directly to your thyroid 3-4 times per day. 
Last week, 6 weeks after my Hashimoto’s diagnosis my thyroid levels were all in normal range and my antibodies dropped from 681 to 132.

Needless to say I was very happy with the results. Im currently back in Half- Marathon Training and have my energy back!
