So my entire post didn't go through for some reason so I'm reposting this:
I wanted to take a few minutes to write and point out the fact that ANY tool, including +R can be abused. I was reading this book again, for like the fifth time, and he mentioned something about how no one can learn how to use an ecollar through YT videos. I couldn't agree more. Can you get the idea? Of course. Can you actually learn about the timing, rewarding, etc. through a video? Nope.
I just want to say that any tool in training can be misused. That not just anyone can grab a treat and teach their dog to come anytime anywhere. That there is a reason stimulations from the ecollar, "persuasion" from the treats, and so on are FADED OUT OVER TIME. So that dogs learn how to be efficient on their own. Not with us constantly holding their hand/paw through it all. This is purely MY opinion. I'm not going into detail, because would be a long ass post. I just wanted to mention it briefly and say I'm very glad if you haven't fallen asleep yet reading this. So thank you.
