In 1904 Georg Jensen founded his firm in Copenhagen. Previously he had been studying sculpture at the Royal Art Academy in Copenhagen and worked with ceramics at Bing & Gröndahl, but it was the art of silversmithing that captured his interest. His artisanal skill and artistic talent made the firm successful. Throughout the years items from Georg Jensen’s studio have been appreciated by the audience for its quality craftsmanship and timeless design. A beautiful inkstand in sterling silver made by Georg Jensen in 1929-34 is now up for auction. With Art Nouveau lines and sculpted ornamentation the ink stand makes an elegant decoration on a desk.
