"As part of my work with CVAN's Document project and my studio space @haarlemartspace , we've been running a series of artist in conversation events that I then edit into podcasts. The last one was with the amazing and inspiring @wolfgangbuttress . It's a way to shed light on an artists' practice, and hopefully they are of interest to others. They have been sort of designed for artists working in their studios and minimal ambient music is woven into the podcasts. "

Hearing from @geoffdiegolitherland today, who has been working on a side project!
"A friend of mine recently wrote a novel and asked me if I would do some artwork for the cover. He's a good friend so I said I'd have to read the book first to see if I liked it and if my work could respond to the tone and narrative of the book. It's a thriller so not my usual reading material, Anyway, I couldn't put it down and read it in a few sittings. The artwork took ages to realize and there were a lot of wrong turns, in the end we decided to capture the tone of the book rather than be too prescriptive of the narrative, as well as create a map of the fictional environment that the book is set in. (I like maps)”
Here's an update from @geoffdiegolitherland on his Within The Surface project -
"I harvested my flax for my Within the Surface project. The flax need to be left in the field for 6 weeks to ret. it can the be dried before processing to extract the linen fibres, before being spun into thread, ready to weave into artist canvas! "

#art by #geoffdiegolitherland in #london ✨#theothersideofthesky "through octagonal 'portholes' litherland allows us to glimpse dramatic landscapes; oceans, forests and mountains that are in a state of flux, hovering between solid and liquid, abstract and figurative, creation and destruction. They are seen through patinas of light and rust, painterly veils that enhance this sense of ambiguity, leaving us to ask, are we witnessing the final hours of a dying world, or the first minutes of one that is newly born?"
