Day 4 of 10
In no particular order, 10 movies that made a significant impact on me the first time I saw them.
I will post an image from one film per day, not the title or poster.
Soundtrack Saturday: You can always count on Anthony Newley for a whimsical melody, and Leslie Bricusse for a fantastical turn of phrase and, despite Roald Dahl’s bitter objections, they provided a near perfect score for Willy Wonka. The songs are infuriatingly hummable; clever little ear worms that trigger endorphin release. Classic for all the right reasons, the music, and the stylized vocals of Gene Wilder, Jack Albertson and Julie Dawn Cole make this film uniquely separate from the book. To be sure, Dahl’s fingerprints are everywhere, especially in the darkly funny Oompa Loompa Song. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a huge fan of both Dahl and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, but “Candyman”, “Pure Imagination”, “I’ve Got a Golden Ticket” and “I Want It Now” all have a larger than life presence above and beyond the book. “We are the music makers and we are the dreamer of dreams.” Pretty inspiring stuff. #djadjectivealbumoftheday#soundtracksaturday#vinyloftheday#vinylsoundtrack#pureimagination#candyman#iwantitnow#oompaloompa#ivegotagoldenticket#anthonynewley#lesliebricusse#genewilder#jackalbertson#juliedawncole
Frederich: Dimmi, quel cervello che mi hai portato era di Hans Delbrück?
Frederick: Ah! Be'... Ehm, ti dispiacerebbe dirmi di chi era il cervello che gli ho messo dentro?
Igor: Non si arrabbierà, eh?
Frederick: No, io non mi arrabbierò!
Igor: A.B. qualcosa...
Frederich: "A.B. qualcosa"? "A.B." chi?
Igor: A.B... Norme.
Frederick: "A.B. Norme"?
Igor: Sono quasi sicuro che era quello il nome.
Frederick: Vorresti dire che io ho messo un cervello "abnorme"... in un energumeno lungo due metri e venti... e largo come un armadio a due ante?! Canaglia! #frankensteinjunior#genewilder#melbrooks#martyfeldman

That's right Friends and Frankensteins, WE'RE BACK and this time we will be making our OFF-BROADWAY Debut of “Why is Everyone Laughing?” A Tribute to Madeline Kahn!
This December 20th, we are bringing Madeline back for a very special program, joining the line-up for the Winter Rhythms Festival at Urban Stages!
WINTER RHYTHMS 2018 marks the 10th year that this award-winning (Bistro Award for Outstanding Series and the Ruth Kurtzman Benefit Series MAC Award) festival welcomes noted musical artists to its stage during the holiday period. The mission of WINTER RHYTHMS is to bring the talents of well-known and up-and-coming singers, musicians, lyricists and composers to the attention of the New York theater community. "After hit engagements at the Met Room, the Duplex, Don’t Tell Mama, and the Friars Club earned her a MAC Award nomination, Hanna Burke reprises — for the first time in more than a year — her tribute to the Tony-winning, Oscar-nominated actress Madeline Kahn. Cabaret Scenes praised Hanna’s use of songs and stories “to illuminate the short—but brilliant—life and career of this extravagantly funny lady who never truly, deeply understood ‘Why is everyone laughing?’” At Winter Rhythms, Hanna will be joined by music director Jeff Cubeta and guest performers Rachael Joyce, Adrian Rifat, and Will Anderson.
Produced by Kahn’s biographer, William V. Madison, in association with Elise Goyette." #madelinekahn#tribute#offbroadway#nyc#urbanstages#winterrhythms#cabaret#performer#singer#opera#musicaltheater#actress#actor#melbrooks#genewilder#blazingsaddles#youngfrankenstein#film#broadway#instagood
