Sound familiar? This post is not to shame or guilt anyone who has made the choice to alter their child’s genitals. I am one of those parents. I made that permanent choice for my child. And I made it without a pause- without research, without questions. I take that back, when I asked my sons nurse if it hurt, she said “no”. I made the assumption that if it weren’t good, we wouldn’t do it. I thought it was normal; I wanted to eliminate anything that may make him different. We have all heard it’s better- cleaner, nicer looking, and HELLO it’s in the Bible. Case closed. That was it. That was the basis of my decision. BUT- there is so much more. - Do you know not a single health organization in the WORLD recommends infant circumcision? It gets tricky with the AAP as they have a two sided statement and they only recognize two African studies. They don’t recognize a single study from ANY industrialized country, studies that challenge the findings of the African studies and in effect would challenge the basis of our “cultural norm”. - Do you know Jesus fulfilled Old Testament laws- ALL 613 laws- including circumcision? - Do you know foreskin is created with purpose and function? Foreskin actually helps keep our most sensitive area... soft, supple, moist, and, well, sensitive... ask an intact female if she enjoys her foreskin. Is there sensitivity? Imagine trimming or cutting it off, would that change intimacy for her? For you? Would it make it prettier? Would you make that decision for your daughter? Do you know circumcision rates in our country are falling? Do you know 80% of the men in the world are INTACT. Do you know people around the globe are referring to female AND male circumcision as genital mutilation? . . . Let that sink in for a minute. No shame. No guilt. Are you quick to put up a wall? Are you open to listening and discussing? Are you resistant to look into literature? Will you take a minute to pause and research? Will you look fear in the face and call it a LIAR? Will you be a part of challenging and changing our culture and TALK about this procedure? Change begins with ONE- that is you friend #savingoursons#elephantinthehospital#generationintact #

It is not my business what you do with your SON'S genitals, but please for the love of that sweet little bundle of joy, please research your heart out before you choose to cut!
