Another great meet at #rhodeislandcomiccon last year. Julian Glover did a lot of great stuff including a Bond villain, Walter Donovan and grand maester pycelle but will always be my favorite as general veers! Such a nice guy@queenmaabus got a nice hug and kiss on the hand(the older actors always seem to like her more)😜 #generalveers#starwars#julianglover
Character Spotlight: General Maximillian Veers
This guy is one of my favourite Imperial officers. He also seems to be one of the more competent ones, impressing Vader with his invasion of Hoth. He was played by Julian Glover in Empire (he was also Donovan in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade)
The figure history is better than most officers. He is the only Imperial Officer to get a vintage figure, in fact two separate figures are based on him. The imperial Commander and AT-AT commander are both veers, as indicated by the card art and vague likeness.
The next one is the AT-AT Commander from the POTF2 AT-AT set. He is okay only beating the vintage figure with better deco. He is also not named but you can tell who it is.
The best 3.75 version is definitely the SAGA version. He is finally named and gets removable armour pieces and helmet. The likeness is pretty close to Julian Glover. The arm articulation is swivel...so not great, but he does what he does in the movie...stands and looks imposing.
Before we get to the black series, I must mention the Vintage Collection AT-AT commander. This is definitely NOT Veers, the likeness is no where near correct and the rank badge is not correct. I believe he was meant to be just another random officer. If you don't believe me, I included a comparison shot.
Now, the nicest version...the Black Series General Veers. This is a nice figure. The facial printing is amazing. It looks exactly like a younger Julian Glover. You can remove the helmet and armour and have him in his uniform with a cap. The articulation is the same as Tarkin and Thrawn, so as good as you need an Imperial Officer to be. Its fantastic.
So first pic= Before facial shading. 2, 3, 4: after shade. Notice the difference in detail. That was literally just a splurge of Reikland Fleshshade. The shape of the model did the hard work. Also used the Cerulean Blue and Scarlet to colour in his wee Strepsils/Jolly Ranchers.
And that is General Veers done. Just his base to texture and paint.
Thanks for following the progress. Hopefully you can see how easy it is to get a half decent model painted and looking well.
Will be getting more soon, so I will post up further painting reports. Hopefully an AT-ST and some Snowtroopers. Watch this space. 😊
So many great reveals today! Not including anyone from my last "most excited for" post that I dont have yet (Zuckuss, Leia!) I really love Chopper, and he will pair great with Hera!
Missed out on pilot Luke (twice) and really love the idea of the Archive line!
Veers I've known about, but I can't get over how well done he is.
Moloch has a special place for me not just cause he has a fried chicken staff 🍗 I just love his design.
Overall looks like a great sampling for the next year for TBS6 and I cant see what else is coming up! Great work @hasbro and @mrstevie18 !
