The gardens at Coughton Court were the real draw though. The walled garden is so different. You walk in through the gate and are hit with a wall of scent then after a short section of straight border you’re into a twisting maze of gravel paths with beds full of roses and all sorts of little delights like statues, benches and sundials so you end up with one hundred different views. The rest of the formal gardens were similarly lovely with little hidden areas opening up new delights all over the place. I need me some concrete balls! #coughtoncourt#nationaltrust#walledgarden#ukgardens#gardens#roses#fragrance#formalgardens#sculpture
Packwood House and it’s famous yews was next on the agenda. I liked the different courtyard gardens and it was interesting to learn the history of the house. The Queen Mary quote made me laugh! I liked that there was more information given to you than at most houses. You didn’t have to shell out on the guide book if you wanted an inkling of what the history was, which is rarer and rarer at the National Trust properties I’ve been visiting. As always, I’m drawn to the kitchen garden for inspiration.... think I could dig a really big well on the allotment? #packwoodhouse#nationaltrust#gardens#ukgardens#historichouse#roses#kitchengarden#allotment
We’re kicking off the weekend with these fun and oh-so-delicious character buns from #littleitaly @harumamasd restaurant. Pick up a copy of our #june issue to read about the other places we’re eating at right now.
