I wasn't really feelin motivated since I've been getting up at 130 for work BUT!
I ain't gonna let this new schedule mess up my gym time dang it! I refuse.
After a quick partner wod with @goldarr yesterday, we decided to mess around with some strict press. Hit 155, which is actually a (very mediocre) PR, but definitely would not have been possible without all of the crazy shoulder intensive @street_parking workouts I've gone through the past 6 months
Not every victory is a huge number, sometimes it's just being able to put something overhead pain free 🏋🏻♂️🙏🏼🏆

Started with bench press since I need to start getting it back up then hit tomorrow's @streetparkingmembers workout because it was a longer one and I had a little more time today than I probably will tomorrow 😬
Let’s talk for a moment about anxiety. The “A” word! People walk around hiding this element about themselves because they’re ashamed and embarrassed about it. I can’t tell you how many incredible people I know suffer from some form of anxiety. -
Anxiety can be paralyzing, life altering and make you feel like you’re alone sinking in quick sand. It can make you feel as if you’re stranded on an island and no one can hear you. Maybe big waves come where you can’t breathe and feel like you’re going to die. Some come in the form of extreme stomach pain where you can’t leave the house. Other forms may make you feel light headed or faint. And what about the form that causes major heart palpitations or just the feeling of not being able to move? -
Anxiety is a REAL thing. It’s not just in your head. YOU are NOT alone! More and more children are having anxiety starting at a younger age. -
I’m clearly not a therapist, but I’ve been around enough people with anxiety to know that they need loving support. The skills and tools to practice breathing techniques to bring down the nervousness. They need to know they’re not alone. Most of all they NEED an outlet! Ideally a creative and/or physical outlet. -
There are extreme cases who may need to go on certain meds temporarily or forever as a last resort. And this is ok too and shouldn’t be judged by anyone. We are not in their shoes and can’t feel the terror they feel. -
As a mother and someone who has felt anxiety in various ways, having a creative and physical outlet is not an option. I NEED hard things to do. -
Doing or trying hard things helps your mind. Practicing something challenging helps your body! -
This life is too short to live in comfort. Challenge yourself, even if it’s uncomfortable. I can’t tell you how many of my students have lowered their anxiety levels (kids included) with movements and achievements. I’m not saying it’s a cure, but it sure is helluva good start!
