If you said yes in our poll yesterday, here is an article for you! 
So its Saturday, your food has been on point all week and so has your training, you feel great, but the weekend is here and you know you will end up eating crap at least one of those days. We know its tough to keep on track, especially when there is good weather(Once in a blue moon in Ireland!). So here are some tips for you to keep your food on point this weekend:

Keep sugar to a minimum as much as possible. This is an obvious one and its tough but its to beat the cravings when you just want to enjoy yourself on the weekend. Instead of having the bar of chocolate, have 1 or 2 squares of dark chocolate. Substitute the sugary drinks for a carbonated zero sugar drink if needed, or else have some lemon green tea or just keep it plain and simple with water. 
Don't have a cheat day, have a cheat meal. Keep eating the way you have been all week until you're next meal is your cheat meal. You will feel better for it and the extra calories from the cheat meal will actually spike your metabolism! 
Try your best to stay away from alcohol like beer, cider and wine. They are loaded in calories and carbs. If you're going to have a drink, try to stick wit gin and tonics. These are lower in calories than the rest. 
Having a BBQ? Enjoy your food but don't go eating all the burger buns! Try to stick with meat & a side salad with some veggie skewers! 
Try to get some sort of workout/training in at least once over the weekend and burn off some of those extra calories! Or even better go out for a nice long walk in this great weather!

For a human like myself, who was born with a natural ability to talk a bit (or a lot, most of the time to be fair) ๐Ÿ‘€ I still find it daunting and terrifying to talk on an Instagram story ๐Ÿ™„ Probably because a part of me is still afraid of what people think of me, my page, the fact that I engage in frequent lifting and macro counting, despite not having the ideal body to show for it etc etc etc

However recently my confidence for this page and what I do has grown. Despite not having a massive following who give me ten million likes on my content, having people actually taking the time of day to write to me and say they enjoy my content means ALOT. Furthermore, actually having someone acknowledge what I do and the positivity I try and preach and thus send me a product is a pretty nice feeling too and something that I am very grateful for ๐Ÿ˜ full time influencer perhaps? LOL

This boost and confidence also helps me to care less about people who probably think my content and page in general is so โ€œcringeโ€ , โ€œsadโ€, โ€œloserish?โ€ because undoubtedly they exist.....heyiz xxx

Here I am , day 5 of canoeing down the Blackwater river. .
We had a few hours of chill (the first ones all weekend) where we got to lie back - literally- +wait for the tide to turn. .
I was tired, sore, with a bandaged wrist (from taking the back seat in the canoe, trying to prove I could take the man's roll ๐Ÿคฃ).

120- 150km canoeing, camping along the side of river, eating in the morning + lunch time wherever we found places to get food.

I had been on a similar trip along the Barrow river a few years ago + honestly the drudgery I had forgotten about that trip all came flooding back on day 1. 
Hah!

I spent the first day of two asking myself "WHY DID I DO THIS AGAIN?" - I could be at home, warm + comfortable - not cold, wet , sore + putting up my tent to sleep on the hard floor with hands that were numb + cramping form 8hours rowing. .
.
Anyways- I watched it all come + go; some days + moments of real joy, gratitude + appreciation for the people with me on this trip, the stunning nature we got to enjoy (with no one else around) + for practice in its different forms. .
.
I thought about that feeling of suffering + with days + miles still left ahead, + how that can bring up frustration, anger, pain, fear+ tears. It can bring up desperation + blame. .
.
On the 2nd last day, after a particularly challenging day spent paddling against strong winds + climbing through mud to take rest on dry land, my wrist was particularly painful + my mind had already moved into 'Ending' phase - 
Where I had already gone into the space + feeling of being at home, dry, warm + comfortable. 
I was exhausted, over the whole trip + already in 'future happy Clair' mode with my home comforts ๐Ÿคฃ

I sat in front of the house where we were camping + I just cried + cried. 
Part for my own frustration + 'suffering' + feeling miserable but also partly for this sense of 'What is the point'. .
I found myself asking , What is the point in all of this ? This trip, dragging ourselves though the mud - literally - and for what ?
I thought of how easy it can be to fall into this space (more below โฌ‡)

We installed Precorโ€™s Gold Grade equipment with TV, Internet, social media apps and RunTV built into the consoles. Along with over 60 pieces of Cardio equipment, there was a full range of strength equipment with both selectorised and plate loaded machines.

In order to cater for the large group fitness aspect of the gym we installed a fully dedicated Spinning studio and a multi-functional Exigo Monster rig that can allow up to 15 people train at one time, this has been a huge addition to group fitness classes.

Another huge feature of this installation was the high performance area which contained 6 Exigo Elite Performance Power Racks along with benches, free weights and conditioning equipment such as prowlers and sleds.

All equipment for this installation was customised with DKIT logos and colours adding to the over visual appeal of the facility!

You have probably heard the term โ€˜anabolic windowโ€™ getting thrown about among bodybuilders, fitness enthusiasts and โ€˜brosโ€™. Anabolic window refers to the time after training when your body is particularly prone to absorb food and shuttle it towards lean muscle mass. โ€˜Bro-scienceโ€™ traditionally estimates it lasts somewhere between thirty minutes and two hours after your workout. A recent study from the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition examined this phenomenon based on 23 previous studies on protein intake and timing. The outcome is quite surprising. -
Surprising Findings

The study review discovered that the timing of consuming the protein mattered little if not at all. What did matter was the total protein intake as it alone seemed to cause most of the differences in results. According to some more findings โ€“ the anabolic window, if it exists, can last anywhere from 4 to 6 hours after training as opposed to the tight 30 -120 minutes we were previously led to believe. Ok, so we donโ€™t need to run home right after the last rep to stuff our faces with food. Catabolism is not as sneaky as we previously believed and as long as you have a balanced nutrition plan, your gains will not be wasted as fast as you think. -

The average subject of the studies reviewed ate 1.66 grams of protein per kilogram of bodyweight per day. For a 200-lb man, this equals around 150g of protein per day. That is in line with recommendations for strength training athletes from most current research but contradicts what we were previously told about consuming 1 gram of protein per 1 pound of bodyweight.-

One key element to keep me motivated in the gym is new exercises. Recently @jesscollins123 reminded me of the box squat exercise and I have been incorporating these into my leg sessions now regularly ๐Ÿ’ช

Additionally my motivation to exercise regularly is linked to the enjoyment I get from putting on my earphones, switching off from the world and being (or attempting to being) present and focused on what Iโ€™m doing. To be honest, exercise for me is a part of my regime and routine. My routine is actually not complete without it ๐Ÿ™ƒ

This post is not really self serving however. I am not trying to portray myself as a big fitness fanatic, who everyone should look up to for motivation because Iโ€™m so great and the definition of a #gymbunny LOL

The purpose of this post is to highlight the association I have found personally between having motivation to do things you enjoy. I enjoy exercising. Thus it is easier to motivate myself to go to the gym. Equally, in other areas of my life such as education, my motivation is quite high because I love what I study and my motivation to ask ten million questions per minute is associated with my love of being inquisitive (...or annoying?) ๐Ÿคช

The Yue/Cole study 1992-The first group trained their left hypothenar muscles (muscles that lift the pinky finger) for 4 weeks, five sessions per week using maximal isometric contractions. The second group literally imagined producing these same, effortful isometric contractions. A third group did not train their finger at all.

Your portion sizes are too big:
