Five generations of Gaja family have been producing wines in Piedmont's Langhe hills. Some fine Barbarescos & single vineyard barbaresco - richer , balanced & refined style. Got a great opportunity to open such fantastic Wines.🍷#barbaresco#gajawine#cherzz

#gajawine#gajavini#Bolgheri#Bolgheriwine
No need for a thousand word upon Gaja, the highest expression of Barbaresco. Always daunted by the price tags of their three legendary single vineyard labels, I fortunately found a good deal of this village class but strong vintage bottle to taste the spirit of the much worshipped producer.
6 hours of decanting preceded the tasting as it was clearly infantile. Intense nose of dark cherries, tar, rose petal and soil, classic traditional Barbaresco style albeit a bit on the dark side. Sharp and lasting acidity on the palate, yet chunky tannins made it a bit hard to delineate the flavor profiles. With a little more air and patience, it started to reveal interesting characteristics, including soy sauce and mushroom. This is a wine on the opposite of hedonism, a wine to sip while pondering on metaphysics or chasing memory, on a rainy moody night. Certainly it was too young, I would try it again in a decade. Are you fan of Gaja?
