Making a Ballerina Homopolar Motor, aka Batterina!
A homopolar motor is a direct current electric motor with two magnetic poles, the conductors of which always cut unidirectional lines of magnetic flux by rotating a conductor around a fixed axis so that the conductor is at right angles to a static magnetic field.
The challenge with this design is balancing the coil to center on the battery as it rotates.

🍪 Have you prepared the cookies for Santa yet?
This fun tradition involves kids putting out milk and cookies for Santa Claus to thank him for the gifts they got.
🧡 Kids can learn gratitude from this simple make believe tradition and that is very important to foster in today’s world.
Mama, watch me make a big splash! 💦Ah, to be a fearless kid again! 😱
I can still jump off the high board if my little guy insists, but this is no longer something I do just for kicks. Plus, the inner voice of caution is becoming louder each year, mapping nicely with the slower pace my body recovers from injuries.
Fear not, that I’m fully into my fourties, I can assure you that there are some upsides to being in your ‘later youth’. One of them is not caring how dorky you look when you are on a mission.
Case in point, I spent much of the time at the pool treading water like a fiend trying to get some exercise while keeping an eye on my son and his friends. It actually worked out very well! Give it a try!
I may actually bust out ankle weights soon to crank up my power walks because my hamstrings rebel when I run :(
Cheers to ‘later youth’!🥂Keep it to one drink though, as you’ll feel it tomorrow if you don’t 😉 In joke for my fellow fogies.
