📌What have I taken for “prescription drugs”? I took copaxone for 4 months in 2005 and it made me feel like a sick person so I stopped. I knew early on that if I did not have a positive attitude going into this life long thorn.. then I would not make it the long haul without a wheelchair. So, that was it for the Big Pharma side of my healing/halting progression. 📌Food affects my disease more than anything. After years of experimenting I have found sugar and gluten will DESTROY my legs. Beer and wine does, as well. If my GUT is happy, my disease is happy! 📌Do you know what has improved since taking CBD oil and keeping ON POINT with my diet? All of these. I don’t recall the last time I have had a UTI. The numbness does not stick around outside an attack. My balance and coordination are significantly better. The fatigue and spasticity in my legs are 80% better with oil. And oh by the way, my MRIs are unchanged since last year. 📌What have I taken for “prescription drugs”? I took copaxone for 4 months in 2005 and it made me feel like a sick person so I stopped. Today has been quite the busy day. Well, more like productive day. Cleaned out my boys playroom and bedrooms. Rearranged the playroom and dusted everything. Finally found that library book 📚 from earlier this Summer I think I already own by now 🙄 🤦🏻‍♀️and donated LOTS of toys the boys don’t play with anymore. I feel like if you are blessed with the simple things in life, it’s good to give some away so they can be enjoyed, played with and loved.

Plants contain fiber, antioxidants, phytochemicals, and polyphenols which are essential for optimal health.

Phytochemicals are exclusively found in plants and can be thought of as these biologically active compounds of the plants immune system which give fruits and vegetables their bright color.

The more phytochemicals we consume, the better our body is able to combat oxidative stress, reduce stress induced apoptosis, decrease inflammation, and protect the gut.

As you can see, all four of these meal have a few main things in common: 
1️⃣ Lots of vegetables
2️⃣ An abundance of diverse color
3️⃣ Animal protein is more of a condiment and makes up <20% of the meal
4️⃣ Comprised of whole foods and minimally processed
5️⃣ Nutrient-dense

All these meals happen to be based on an anti-inflammatory template as well which exclude common allergenic and inflammatory foods: corn, soy, dairy, gluten, shellfish, peanuts, refined sugar, and nightshades.

When it comes to food, many people seem to have a strong alliance to a particular diet/lifestyle trend. Either you’re a dedicated vegan, a devoted vegetarian, a staunch paleo lover, or on the keto craze.

We are all unique individuals, and therefore, have different goals and needs. What works for you may not work for me. Just like what works for me may not work for you.

While I do lean more towards a vegan template and encourage a whole food, plant-heavy diet, I am by no means a strict vegan, nor am I a vegetarian, or strict paleo.

While I don't eat meat everyday, I have found that my body is more balanced when I include some high quality animal protein compared to when I was strict vegan.

OH MY GOSH SO MOUTH WATERING GOOD. @instituteforfxmed -- this Renew Recipe ROCKS! I always love a dairy-free pesto because they're so yummy, but your recipe is my fav. I omitted the garlic because garlic + Heather = NO BUENO. *
Want to make it the way I did? Follow the instructions below. *
1/3 cup pine nuts
1 1/2 cup packed basil leaves
1 1/2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil

Directions
1. Lightly toast the pine nuts in a skillet over low heat for 5 minutes (set a timer otherwise if you're like me, you'll forget)
2. Place all of the remaining ingredients except the oil in a small food processor (or blender). Pulse a few times.
3. Turn the blender on and slowly drizzle the olive oil until a paste has formed.
4. EAT AND ENJOY!

🇵🇹 Peri-Peri Chicken mixed plate: 
Love it when you nail the Chicken 🍗 on the grill, crispy surface and succulent and juicy inside, I marinaded these chicken breasts in @nandosuk Peri Peri salt and garlic. Served up with a fried egg, grilled halloumi, a medley of re-roasted veg from a previous evening inc. courgette, squash and sweet potato (yes you can tolerate a little bit when you are well fat adapted), A standard romaine lettuce, tomato and cucumber salad with olive oil, and a little scoop of celery and nut mayo salad. Great mix of flavours and textures, quite high protein more than fats, but if you've had your @bulletproof coffee in the morning then you're set for the day in that respect. 
Low carb is always a little bit more expensive and more time consuming but it's worth it for anybody to take steps towards optimising their health. 🇵🇹 Peri-Peri Chicken mixed plate: Love it when you nail the Chicken 🍗 on the grill, crispy surface and succulent and juicy inside, I marinaded these chicken breasts in @nandosuk Peri Peri salt and garlic. Served up with a fried egg, grilled halloumi, a medley of re-roasted veg from a previous evening inc. courgette, squash and sweet potato (yes you can tolerate a little bit when you are well fat adapted), A standard romaine lettuce, tomato and cucumber salad with olive oil, and a little scoop of celery and nut mayo salad. Great mix of flavours and textures, quite high protein more than fats, but if you've had your @bulletproof coffee in the morning then you're set for the day in that respect. Low carb is always a little bit more expensive and more time consuming but it's worth it for anybody to take steps towards optimising their health. The neuroendocrine system is an elegant, but complicated, series of interactions and feedback loops that help to create homeostasis in the body. This means that the thyroid hormones don't just communicate with other components within the same thyroid axis, but also with the other neuroendocrine axes such as the HPA axis and the HPG axis.

Now, the reason for this intolerance is because active thyroid hormone (T3) increases the breakdown of cortisol into cortisone.  This means that if you are suffering from symptoms of low cortisol, increasing T3 levels will make those symptoms worse.  On top of this, under situations of stress where cortisol should increase, those with cortisol deficiencies but taking thyroid medications are more likely to have a hyperthyroid episode.

As a general rule of thumb, I assess the HPA axis in 100% of patients with suspected neuroendocrine dysfunction, and end up supporting the HPA axis in one degree or another in 80% of confirmed neuroendocrine dysfunction cases. 
If you've been told that you are hypothyroid but don't tolerate thyroid replacement well, find a physician who can help you heal your adrenal glands.  That may be the key to resolving your symptoms for you.

Did you read my post about expectations yesterday?  If not read it! Because expectations can do a lot more than keep us stuck--they can cause physical pain as well. 
One of my clients has interstitial cystitis, just like me.  Anyone who has it knows the excruciating pain of flares.  While I have learned to overcome my IC without medication, she was dependent on it for over 10 years.  One of the goals she set during my 12 week program was to get off of Elmiron because of all the nasty side effects the drug creates. Plus, it doesn't even work that well!

In a few weeks, she has met her goal of getting off Elmiron but she had a small IC flare last week.  She was able to overcome it quickly with the tools I have taught her, but she made a huge breakthrough as well.  One that will help her prevent flares in the future. 
Her flare came after she had expectations of a situation, the outcome didn't meet her expectations and she fell back into old patterns of negative self talk, stress and anxiety.  By understanding this connection, she can train herself to stop this pattern, retrain her brain and heal the pain she has suffered from for over 10 years.

Traveling shouldn’t be an excuse for eating unhealthy or fast foods. 
This was my lunch today in Belgium while exploring a new city. I found a natural, fresh and ready/fast organic foods restaurant. I had quinoa salad with loads of veggies and gluten-free sandwich with lentils, chicken breast and veggies. 
On the side a little cheat.. gluten-free raw organic Belgium chocolate mousse. 😍

لما نكون مسافرين او برحلة طويلة مش لازم نعطي حالنا عذر لنأكل وجبات أمريكية سريعة او ما شابهها. دائماً الا نلاقي اختيار أفضل.
اليوم ببلجيكا كنّا منستكشف منطقة جديدة ولقيت هالمطام. هو فكرته وجبات سريعة بس طازج وصحية وعضوية. ولفتتني نظري انو أسعارهم مشابهة لسعر اَي طعام عادي غير عضوي او صحي. 
اليوم غداي كان سلطة كينوا بالخضار والدجاج وفيها زبيب وكمان سندويش خالي من الجلوتن بالحبوب الكاملة والبذور محشية دجاج وخضار. وعلى جنب مخبرية ورا المستحية موس الشوكولا ☺️ مصنوعة من الشوكولا البلجيكية الخام والعضوية كمان خالية من الجلوتن. 
هل انت من يلي بيخبصوا بالأكل بحجة انهم برا البيت او من الملتزمين المناضلين؟ 😅

Traveling shouldn’t be an excuse for eating unhealthy or fast foods. This was my lunch today in Belgium while exploring a new city. I found a natural, fresh and ready/fast organic foods restaurant. I had quinoa salad with loads of veggies and gluten-free sandwich with lentils, chicken breast and veggies. Do you hate Monday?

I used to hate Monday. Now it’s my favorite day of the week.
