I blogged!!!! Miracles do happen, people. Want to know why this is a miracle?? Because I am the MOST inconsistent person on the planet. I literally do the things when I FEEL like doing the things. And I don’t do them when I don’t feel like it. •
Ok that’s not totally true. I feed my kids and make sure they are bathed when I don’t feel like it. I make dinner when I don’t feel like it (sometimes) and I have been known to workout when I don’t feel like it. But when it comes to writing and creating, I really only want to do those things when I want to do them!! And not a moment before! 😝 •
All that being said, I really did blog! I sat down and wrote some things. Hit up the link in our bio if you would like to read about us. Love all y’all!
"Hey everyone... come and see how good we look." 😂 We have a lot of new followers here (Hi guys!)👋 so we figured we'd do a #FridayIntroductions !
👫 We're Katelyn & Howard! Our name 'Newstate Nomads' comes from Howard's (and soon-to-be Katelyn's) last name - Newstate. It's the perfect name for this life of travel we've created! 😊
💍 We just got engaged in Jul, but haven't started #weddingplanning yet because we wanted to get our life on the road up and running first.
🚙 We started our full-time RV life after a move to Miami earlier this year didn't work out quite the way we expected. The stars aligned, and we decided we didn't want to wait any longer to travel the country like we had been dreaming about. Travel has always been a really important aspect of our lives and our relationship.
💻 Katelyn has a social media & PR consulting business. Howard is Chief Technology Officer for a Virtual Reality company. So we both work from the road. (A really good WiFi connection is important!)
🐕 🐕 We travel with our two #puggles , Piper & Ella. They sleep about 16 hours a day and are the best snuggle buddies!
😍 Thanks for following along as we navigate this nomadic lifestyle! Any questions? (Insert David S. Pumpkins gif here) 🎃 😆
Another thing we did when staging was decorate just a bit 💗
“Home sweet home” is right 😍
Did you decorate before you were close to finishing?
Or have you picked up decorations even though you’re not at all to that stage of the process?
Its not clean or complete, but this happened today and is making this RV feel more like a home. Imagine a new butcher block counter top, with a new, slightly smaller sink, new faucet and a modern light fixture over the sink 😍 Yes!!
Hoping that some lovely families will enjoy this back porch as much as we have these past few years. We have spent the past 10 years accumulating things to put in a home. One thing that military life has taught me is that a house doesn’t make a home. It’s the people that love each other in the space that make a structure a home. Last year we brought our first child into the world and that experienced has changed our perspective on life in so many ways. Now this place that we currently call home is going to be a place where people go to finally relax. We hope it will be a quiet place of refuge in the midst of a busy life. We hope that our Airbnb will allow me to stay home and have more babies yet continue to propel us on the path towards financial independence. Life is meant to be lived now. #fulltimerv#fire#airbnbhost#virginiabeach#liveintentionally#gorving
First time I ever saw a little girl resting her head on my son’s shoulder was yesterday evening. And of course I was the mom taking pictures of said occasion through the windows. 😂🤷🏽♀️ It was so cute.
Also, whaaaaaat?!? Sasha will be 9 in 3 weeks. 😭
Tumalo Falls!!! What a great hike! The kiddos were not into it so much for some reason but they got some good exercise! If you are in Bend, OR check it out! A great drive right outside the city and amazing mountain biking opportunities!
Our son is in the Air Force, stationed at Tyndall AFB near Panama City. It has been heartbreaking seeing all the damage in the area. Our son, who just bought his first house this summer, safely evacuated well before Michael rolled ashore but not before boarding up all his windows. Someone on the ground in the area sent him photos of his home a few days after the storm. There are some shingles blown off the roof and the tops of a couple trees laying on the roof on one end of the house. We’re hopeful that they didn’t cause much damage. He is going down tomorrow to check on the interior (per the AF he’s not allowed to move back yet).
This is my kind of grocery shopping 🍎 🍇 @chattooga_belle_farm was yet another incredible @harvesthosts location that had it all- a distillery, orchard, vineyard, and friendly neighbors (🦆 🐓). Believe it or not, this was my first time picking apples 🍏 and I will never let another fall go by without visiting an #orchard 🌳
A full time RV’er found a unit that he can be close to his parents and still give them their standard of living without moving in with them. Welcome to Florida! Best wishes to the family and a long life ahead with a great camper! #fulltimerv#granddesignrv#traveltrailer#lazydaysrv
We’ve never done one of these before, but we thought maybe it’s time for a #FridayIntroduction . We’re Ashley and Arthur. The A Team, as some friends dubbed us. As you may have noticed, we're not too keen on social media; we’re both a little leery about sharing stuff online. But here are a few random tidbits about us: ⠀
Before buying our fifth wheel a year and a half ago, neither of us had ever been in an RV. We were total newbies.
Ashley was born in California and Arthur in the USSR, but we’ve both called Pittsburgh, PA home for most of our lives.⠀
Pittsburgh is home to an annual furry convention. We dressed up as foxes and went the first year we started dating. ⠀
Ashley is five years older than Art. (He keeps me young 😜)
If it's broken, Art can fix it. This is extremely helpful when you have an old rig like ours. He's done almost all of our RV repairs with the aid of You Tube and Google.⠀
Most of our posts come from Ashley, but Art often gives his two cents. We love to look back on our page and reminisce together.⠀
We love RVing and expect that we’ll always have some sort of home on wheels. ⠀
While we love exploring the US, we want to travel more internationally and even live abroad someday.
Opening up on social media is hard. You’d think I (Ashley) would have the hang if it since I played MMORPGs for years. My sister and I met online friends IRL 15 years ago when most people thought it was creepy and we were nuts. Clearly, times have changed as we’re all about meeting new people in this #RVCommunity . ☺️ So, feel free to say hi and tell us a bit about yourself.
When I was growing up I used to dream of traveling the world and exploring the outdoors.
When I started looking at careers I didn’t want to go to grad school. I didn’t want to have money be a long term issue. I didn’t want to have a desk job. I switched my major too many times to count, yet I had no idea what I wanted to spend the rest of my life doing.
This opportunity fell into my lap, and I said yes. Yes because I didn’t want to go to grad school, sit at a desk job, and I saw the financial potential in front of me.
Saying yes has allowed me to build life on my terms, travel, explore and have a vision as big as I did before I knew what the “real world” was really like.
Don’t let your inner dreamer down. Don’t settle for a life you don’t love 🤙🏼
I walked from my Harvest Host parking spot in Effingham last night to find dinner, and it’s the first time since college (in Southwest Missouri) that I had people rolling down the windows of their pickup trucks to hoot and holler at the weird guy walking instead of driving. Lots of camouflage hats and billboards. Lots of beautiful sunsets and amenities for truckers. The sidewalks were all lined with spiderwebs; unused except by arachnids. My home-for-the-night was beautiful and cornfield-adjacent, but also close to a highway, so there was an all-night hum and drone of semis hauling grains and goods from the US breadbasket to all points East and West. Tonight’s Harvest Host is in New Paris, Ohio, right across the border from Indiana (I had to drive my car back across the border to find coffee, and I’ll drive back to get some work done and sleep in a bit). I drove right through a lunar crater-sized pothole in Indianapolis that sent half my light fixture-covers falling from the ceiling, and my cutting board flying from its fitted perch on the stove. That was alarming; potholes are amplified crazily in Tortuga, but thankfully nothing actually broke. Tomorrow night I’ll stop in Eastern PA, and the next night I’ll be just a few hours from my home base-for-a-month on the western side of the state.
Meow Wolf is an explorable and interactive art museum in Santa Fe. Funded by the one and only George R.R. Martin, creator of Game Of Thrones 😍
"Meow Wolf champions otherness, weirdness, challenging norms, radical inclusion, and the power of creativity to change the world."
Meow Wolf is more than just about making money as they are a registered public benefit corporation, and donated $500k to local organizations last year, while also powering their exhibit with 40% solar power! #sustainable 🙌♻️
There are locations in Denver, Vegas, and Santa Fe, & we highly recommend you check one out! We spent hours in Meow Wolf highly entertained! 🤩😎🦄
It's finally up! Benjamin's drawing/homeschool desk + my occasional sewing area! 😏 (swipe to see the before) I can't believe we actually considered leaving this wall the way it was in the before picture! So glad we knocked it all down & added a blank wall to work with, mostly because I love how this desk folds down out of the way for a more spacious room for kids to play in!
As you can tell we still need to get a chair, a roll of paper for the pegboard, and diy that ugly slide door with paint or a fun wallpaper (& just maybe a whole other list of things to check off 🙊😂) but that's okay we're making progress & we're enjoying the little steps of it all.
I mean what fun would it be if you had no projects left to do, right!? 😅
