En realidad esta es una etapa muy particular. Empiezan a ocurrir muchos cambios en nuestros pequeñines y empiezan las preocupaciones de los padres porque sus pequeños que comían de todo, ahora no quieren nada!

Pero les aseguro, no hay nada de que preocuparse!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
A esta edad los chiquilines de la casa tienen una capacidad innata para ajustar su consumo. Van a tener fluctuaciones con días de mucho apetito gracias a los brotes de crecimiento y otros donde no quieren comer nada. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Les aseguro que nada les va a ocurrir por pasar par de días con un consumo mucho más bajo de lo regular. Aquí es donde muchos padres fallan: por la preocupación de que no quieren comer entonces les empiezan a dar cosas poco nutritivas “solo para que coman” o se vuelven como locos tratando de ingeniarse estrategias que lo que hacen es crear más rechazo a largo plazo.

Empiece más bien a involucrar a sus chicos en la preparación. A estas alturas lo más que pueden hacer es ayudarla a lavar frutas y vegetales o cortar cosas con la mano. Así desde ya le está enseñando hábitos saludables.

En esta época se vuelven mañosos. Déjelos. No les va a durar toda la vida. Usted sígale sirviendo la comida que cuando tengan hambre van a comer! Ofrézcales en el plato algo que usted sabe de seguro se lo va a comer y otras cositas en menor cantidad para que pruebe cuando así quiera.

No los obligue a comer. Eso termina alterando sus hormonas del hambre y saciedad. Por eso es que muchos adultos hoy en día no saben identificar cuando tienen hambre y cuando ya están satisfechos!

Cloudy and cold. Fall is definitely here 😂👍🏻🍁💛🍂
I was literally starving this morning - no wonder after that extrem active day yesterday! The problem I have on those active days: I’m not able to eat much more than I’m used to cause all that stress on my body shuts down my digestion and let’s me feeling stuffed. 
But I’m not stressing about that. I’m doing my best on fuelling that gorgeous body and just try to fuel up on the following days. Always #listentoyourbody 💪🏻
So I just did a short cardio dance wokotout this morning, to just don’t put even more stress on my body 💛 
And to refuel: 
Apricot-nut smoothie bowl topped with a ton of goodies! Granola, crunchy peanut butter, date caramel, pumpkin seeds, hemp seeds and coconut flakes 💛

While I’m not home and eating this Frankenstein toast, on the most delicious plant based gluten free bread @littlenorthernbakehouse , I sure am craving it. 👻 And my kitchen. And cooking. And my bed.... While I’m having the best time on our vacation, I get homesick pretty easily. So I miss home. I miss my routines which I thrive on and comforts and everything else. But I’m going to remain in the moment here. Soak it all up. Enjoy every moment, and then do the same when we get home 🏡 because home is where my kitchen and mugs are. 🤷🏼‍♀️ and the heart too, but really let’s focus on the kitchen and stuff... i hope too all had a great Tuesday (I need to get to sleep for day 4!). Our bodies are the house. The outside is as important as we want it to be. 
But the inside is only a result of what we put in it. 
When we feed our house with straw & we expect it to hold all the weight of changes & time?? #notpossible 
I didn’t know what a healthy diet looked like before. I didn’t know my body was literally being fueled by the food I ate & if I started to choose premium fuel I could start to run more efficiently. 
With all the changes inside of the house that were being made:it would soon reflect the outside into —> a beautiful strong house. 🏠 
The better you treat it — the longer it will stand tall. 
One healthy habit will lead to another. ✨

Before leaving the hospital after having our son, my nurse told me “Remember that you didn’t gain all of your pregnancy weight at once, and you won’t lose it all at once either”... What truth 🙌🏼 If I have any friends out there who are like me and look back to compare yourself- STOP! We should all be proud of where we are in this moment, but if you aren’t pleased with where you’re at, let it fuel you to work hard and not give up until you’re where you want to be! Work hard. From the outside looking in, it may seem like I’ve got all my stuff figured out. I get up early, even when I don’t want to. I try my best to maintain good eating habits, even when I’d rather just sit back and down a loaf of French bread. #alwayscarbloading 😂 I sign up for half marathons and marathons on a whim, because I KNOW that I’m forced to stick to my goals. ⠀⠀

2. If you’re on the go, a protein shake is better than nothing at all.
3. To make sure I get enough every day, I add protein whenever I can (smoothies, baking, oatmeal, etc.)

So I wanted to break it down for you, exactly how I do it with my coaching clients.👇🏼

First off, there is not an universal answer that exist, like most things in nutrition, it depends on numerous factors.
⠀
If anyone in nutrition tries to tell you “ALWAYS eat this” or “NEVER eat that” they are most likely full of sh*t.😉
⠀
I like to break it down in time scenarios for my clients:
⠀
✅2-3 hours before moderate/intense weight training or exercise: Protein+ starchy carbohydrates + some fat or fiber are OK.
⠀
Example: Ground turkey + basmati rice + asparagus
⠀
▶️Why?
⠀
This is enough time to allow your body to digest the food, and avoid GI issues with training.
⠀
Your digestive tract is VERY vascular (requires a lot of blood) so having a whole food meal right before training may cause discomfort and cramping.
⠀
It’s best to eat a whole food meal a few hours outside of training.
⠀
Glycogen (stored carbs) is synthesized on a 24 hour period. Essentially, you are using yesterdays carbs as your main energy for todays workout.
⠀
✅60 minutes before exercise: Quick absorbing protein + carbohydrates + minimal fat or fiber
⠀
Example: Protein shake + medium piece of fruit.
⠀ ⠀
▶️Why?
⠀
Fat and fiber slow digestion and can cause GI issues while training if consumed too close before. Also, carbohydrates are the preferred energy source before training for the body, so having a quick source can help performance.
⠀
✅Less than 15 minutes before exercise: BCAA’s or electrolytes in water.
⠀
Example: Xtend BCAA’s 2:1:1 ratio.
⠀
▶️Why?
⠀
If you enjoy training fasted, you can continue to do so.

However, most athletes/active population I work with do better with a serving of BCAA’s especially if training first thing in the morning.
⠀
BCAA’s have a glucogenic effect and can serve as an immediate energy source during training. They require no digestion, so they can be consumed right before training. Electrolytes may help too for longer duration workouts.

HUGE CHALLENGE for BOTH of us! After doing 30 minutes of wall handstands, single arm handstands and forearm handstands it was time to play around “Ninja style”!
This round was absolutely brutal on our hands and grips. When you are challenged👉🏻you just have to push through and find another level!
So grateful to be able to train with my badass wife💪🏻 She continues to make me better in all aspects of life not just training!

Now don't get me wrong, all of those items "taste" good, but none of them make me "feel" good. I would end up feeling tired and They would only tide me over for a short period of time before I was hungry again. .

Com tantas características positivas, mesmo sem o experimentar, eu já estava agradavelmente surpreendida.

It’s never that  fancy, however, always quick & nutritious, Here, just a variety of veg, sauté with minced chicken,black beans & spices..Replacing the tortilla wrap with iceberg lettuce will lower the overall calories/carbs whilst increasing the nutrient content 👏🏽👏🏽I simply prefer the fresh  crunchy lettuce over a stodgy tortilla.. Use any veg/meat/meat substitute you like.. When I was in my mother’s womb my shoulder was hooked on my moms rib. When I was born, I was left with a shoulder that had no muscle protecting the bone. “It looks like a burn” or kids would tease me as I was younger “it looks like a hamburger”. I was extremely self conscious of this as I was little, and still was into my adulthood. I was embarrassed when someone our ask “OMG what happened to your shoulder”... I would always just try to fight back the tears and explain to them what happened.. silly I know.

To all you beautiful ladies out there,
I just wanted to send out this message to anyone who has ever suffered through any body image issues, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. So many females struggle with their body image daily, and I want you to embrace the body you have because it’s the only one you’ve got. I know this is so much easier said than done because I am too trying to be happier with my appearance and love myself. I am constantly writing down my affirmations DAILY! It is no easy task, but a necessary one. The most important thing in life is that you’re happy with yourself, because if you aim to please others, you’ll never feel satisfied. If you want to lose or gain weight because it’s something you want to do make yourself feel better, then go for it. BUT, don’t ever try to change your body because of something someone else said. If people are criticizing your body they’re just bullies working through their own insecurities who need help and their opinions should not impact your life. .

The ONLY body goals you should have are to be healthy and be happy. Nobody is built the same way. We need to simply accept the fact that we cannot aim to appear like any other person, but that we can aim to improve our own bodies, or accept them just as they are. So, remember you and your body are beautiful inside and out. Even with a shoulder that looks like a hamburger lol. 😂

Today I did something I don’t normally do.  Post run, I sat in a sauna to keep the muscles warm and did some light stretching.  This week my legs have been dragging through the miles so I thought a little warm stretching might help loosen them.  Not going to lie, it was quite relaxing even though it was only 10 minutes and the other person in there was grunting and breathing heavily. I love a good cookbook and spend hours poring over the pages. So you can imagine my excitement when I was selected to receive an early copy of The Vegan 8 to review and make one of the recipes to share with you 🎉 I felt so honoured to be in on this little secret and I know you’ll love the book.

Reasons why I like it: this cookbook shows you don’t need loads of fancy ingredients (each recipe only uses 8) or hours of spare time to create delicious, wholesome and family-friendly vegan dishes 😍 I love spending time in the kitchen but not everyone does. But we still want to nourish our bodies, right?

On Sunday I made Shrimp veggies stir fry for dinner and had left overs for hubby and I to have the next the day for lunch. In order to plate a stronger lunch than we had for dinner I added some brown rice to the dish. .

And here you have it. It was as easy as that. Simply delicious! 😋

Transformation Tuesday this week goes to our very own @kyliecanham #HHYTbigsis with her amazing physical and psychological transformation 
Kylie’s story; ‘I started using Herbalife shakes in Nov 2016 when I went back to work after mat leave & needed a quick breakfast option for 7am starts. I wasn't sure about a liquid breakfast at first but my sister encouraged me & I ended up loving the shakes. It helped me lose the baby weight & feel more energetic. Last night I made a low carb CHEESY chicken and broccoli casserole for dinner. Yep, it had cheese, complete with a cheese sauce AND additional shredded cheese on top! But wait, I'm an online fitness coach. You may be thinking, "I bet you gained 5 lbs just looking at the cheese much less eating it, right?" WRONG! I actually lost .4 pounds. That’s a small scale victory and gave me no reason to feel bad about last night's cheesy goodness. "How did you do that?" you may be asking. I'm going to tell you...

Like most people who want to lose weight, I went into a "diet" mindset. Food was the enemy! I couldn't eat cheese or carbs or chocolate because if I did I'd see the scale jump up the next day. Then I'd feel bad about myself for "cheating" on my diet which made me want to eat more chocolate to make myself feel better. Sound familiar?

Now I have a "lifestyle" mindset. Yes, I eat tons of veggies and love carb swaps, but I still eat chocolate, lose weight and don't feel bad about it anymore. HOW CAN THAT BE? I look at each eating opportunity and think about how it will affect my body. I understand WHY I need certain types of foods, when I need them, how much of each type I need and how it all works together to create the results I want – feeling full and satisfied while also providing steady and continued weight loss. Did I mention you can do this WITHOUT EXERCISE and still lose weight? It's true!

During the first 27 years of my life always trying to belong somewhere, be someone I wasn’t, forcing my body through starvation in dieting and overworked in workouts that weren’t meant for me to have a body that wasn’t ever supposed to be mine, those words would have felt like a death sentence.

In opening my eyes to how much diet culture had conditioned me to think I wasn’t enough, doing the uncomfortable internal emotional work to figure out why it was I felt I needed to change, and being brave enough to know that as I am - the rare, bright, fierce, witty, intelligent, beautiful person that I am - is and always was enough.

The revolution began once I embraced my rare.

This revolution looks like women doing the uncomfortable work to step into and OWN their rare. It looks like women getting in their bodies and exuding the natural confidence they all seek. It looks like women stopping obsessing over their food and body and using that energy to forward their families, their communities, and our world.

Diet culture wants you to belong. I want you to embrace your rare ❤️

Stop demonizing the struggle as if it’s not something we’re supposed to experience as humans. Embrace it. Lean into it. Go through it for our triumphs don’t exist without the struggle ❤️

The more we resist what is difficult for us, the more power we give it. It does not behoove us to ignore it.

It’s scary AF but lean into it.

Be curious about the struggle.

Love the parts of you that are at the root of the struggle.

Accept that being uncomfortable and scared does not need to be paralyzing.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The only way out of the struggle is through the dark, uncomfortable, mucky mess of it.

Cry through it, scream through it, write through it, create through it, made bad decisions through it, make good decisions through it, talk to loved ones, have alone time - whatever your way ends up being just go through it.

On the other side of the muck is breathing room. A healing space. An upleveled version of you that can recognize how badass you are for facing the beast head on. A stronger version of you that no longer resists the uncomfortable, but embraces it with love and compassion for knowing the struggles we face ARE us. They are a part of us just as much as the triumphs. In fact, it’s usually the struggles that lead directly to the triumphs. We cannot embrace one without the other ❤️
