• “1. Sprinting “Sprinting” on the Stairmaster doesn’t necessarily mean flying up the stairs the way you would during a sprint on the ground. The intensity of the stairs, even when increased to just a fast-paced walk, will be enough to feel like sprinting at first, especially if you’re a beginner.

As a general rule, a sprint on the Stairmaster (as with any other work portion of a HIIT workout) should be the speed at which you feel you’re giving at least 75 percent effort. You shouldn’t be able to carry a conversation and your heart rate should be high. Tailor the “sprint” to your individual fitness level based on this.

2. Side Step

The side step involves turning your body to one side and shuffling up the steps. It’s great for working the outer hips and glutes.

Be sure to hold on to the middle railing and turn the speed down so you can comfortably climb sideways. You will alternate climbing sides during the workout. Also, be sure you aren’t stepping only on your toes – try to make sure your heels are also touching the stair treads.

3. Double Steps

Taking double steps, or skipping a step, is another way to up the intensity of the Stairmaster without sprinting. Simply skip a stair with each step you take – your glutes and hamstrings will love you for it!

4. Reverse Step (Optional)

The reverse step is essentially walking backwards up the Stairmaster. This is an optional exercise, and I wouldn’t really recommend it until you’re used to the feel of the Stairmaster (no falling off, please!). However, if you feel up to it, the reverse step puts extra emphasis on your glute and hamstring muscles. You will want to slow down the pace of the machine before you do these, and have your hands near the rail in case you need to catch yourself.” -yurielkaim.com

Eerste video is van vandaag: 150kg front squat voor een 3 rep max. Erg blij mee, al was de laatste rep wel een echt een grinder. Andere twee filmpjes waren mijn openers tijdens een gewichthefwedstrijd in Amsterdam @crossfitflamesxl. 105kg snatch en 125kg clean and jerk. Was genoeg voor plaatsing van het NK in 2019, wat ook het doel was! Heb hierna nog 111 gesnatcht en 115 net gemist. In de clean and jerk waren 135 en 137 beide afgekeurd op een press out. Veel geleerd en leuke dag gehad!

First full workout since the meet. Going with volume and pauses! 
Front squats 2x10 at 165 lbs. Paused front squats 2x3 at 185 and 195 (video). Tight lats are killing my front rack, definitely need more work there.

All in all, Alhumdulillah not bad, but not great either. Should take a few more days to get things rolling again.

I liked this event more than the event 1 but unfortunately this had also thrusters. I was able to keep it going with surprisingly steady pace until the part 3. I should have finished 10s. Well, next time then.

Another good event even though I had to do the first left arm walking lunges again because my left arm failed me a step before the line. I kinda knew that my left arm and shoulder will be the weakest link with this event but luckily I was able to do the rest of this event without misses, so I’m fine with the time but kinda annoyed because I could have done better.

Gestern ging es beim Reißen und Stoßen schwer zu😬 Nachdem das Reißen leider nur bis 82 kg ging (85 kg nicht geschaftt) konnte ich im Stoßen mit 107 kg einen neuen Rekord aufstellen. Crazy how times changes. I did a lot of weight lifting and CrossFit the last years. But since I started to compete again at Trail Running and Triathlon I didn’t go to the box as often as I did before. But when I go - I work my ass off.
It is so interesting how different those sports effects the body. I lost 21 lbs and still looking swollen to most of the other athletes I compete this year.
There are so many things to discover and learn. Nutrition, weight lifting, cardiovascular training. How to prepare the muscles for a Ironman. How to supply enough oxygen to the muscles ...... and so on.
