Trans and gender nonconforming people #WontBeErased .
#ForFreedoms billboard artist @cassils and co-founder @hankwillisthomas spoke to @bbcradio4 #FrontRow this weekend about the #50StateIntitiative and trans visibility, before Sunday’s @nytimes article.
@cassils, whose work calls attention to equal rights for trans and nonbinary folks through their performance art and sculpture said, “We’re in a moment of heightened trans visibility but we’re also in a moment of heightened trans violence. So my work is about is speaking to not only the erased trauma that face trans people, specifically trans women of color, but also the ways in which images impact the ways that we experience images of violence.” Click link in bio for full interview starting at 19:24.
Originally rejected by billboard companies, @cassils’ #50StateInitiative designs will be on view in Houston, TX at the @stationmuseum as part of their upcoming solo exhibition SOLUTIONS from November 3, 2018-March 3, 2019. The above image from @cassils 2007-2015 work INEXTINGUISHABLE FIRE, engages spectators with the construction of images of violence and war in the media by using “full body burn,” a treacherous fire stunt borrowed from Hollywood productions. 10. The Old Man And The Gun - 2.1M
A total of 157.7 million made in the top 10 this weekend, making this the second biggest of the month and also the second biggest October weekend in history! A 25% increase from last weekend's haul and it also makes "Halloween" the second biggest October and horror opening of all time behind "Venom" and "IT" respectfully. What do you guys think of the results this weekend? Anything surprise you? I went 3 for 5 this week in predictions as "Goosebumps 2" held better than expected over "First Man." I was hoping for more with "Halloween," considering the hype going into the weekend, but this is still an incredible success story for a franchise that has been all but dead for the past 9 years.
