For Black History Month, we have decided to introduce you all to a true fencing inspiration. Ibtihaj Muhammad is a Black American Olympic fencer. She brought home the Olympic Bronze medal for the women’s team sabre event and in doing so became the first female Muslim-American fencing champion to wear a hijab (a traditional head scarf). The sport has allowed her to compete in the same kit as everyone else whilst also wearing her hijab, something that she was conscious about when trying other sports. If after reading about Ibtihaj you would like to try fencing, contact Rosalind at email@example.com, or turn up to a session. Tasters are Tuesday 6-8 and Sunday 2-4. After the 21st October normal sessions are resumed to Tuesday and Thursday 6-8 and Sunday 2-4. #mychesterstory#blackhistorymonth

Today is #worldmentalhealthday2018 and we're trying to raise awareness of the fact that 1 in 4 people will suffer with a mental health issue at some point in their life. Joining a sport at University can be a great way to combat this as it let's you meet other people and keep active. Members of our committee have received mental health in sport training and are equipped to help you deal with any issues you may have #mychesterstory
