I did this plein air aquarelle of a forgotten old boat in its green world when I was at the Bois de Vincennes last spring. Come winter, the world outside is painted in shades of gray and I do so miss the vibrance of spring!
Out with the new, in with the old. Château Gaby has been making incredible wine in the renowned Canon-Fronsac region of Bordeaux since 1669. With nearly 350 years of rich history, Château Gaby is one of Bordeaux’s best kept secrets. .
The front door of @chateaudebourneau has been asking to be done up for a while now. The ironwork looked so forlorn all rusted and chipped with patches painted smurf blue 🤦🏼♀️ so I finally gave into painting it this evening.
I love the Victorian mechanism that means you can open the glass panels and peer through the ironwork, which also made painting it a bit easier. It did take some time though and was somewhat reminiscent of painting the curled ironwork for the 3 flights of stairs we tackled this summer but on a minier scale(!) (@duncanbirse @kylethebruce @jengineersampson you all know what this feels like!) Now it’s finally done and looks a lot better. Next the front door colour. I am thinking of a dark charcoal blue in gloss rather than this smurf matt paint. What do you think?
🎶”Deck the halls with boughs of holly! Falalalalalalalala!”🎶
We are feeling very Christmassy @chateaudebourneau and can’t wait to welcome our guests and family over the festive season.
The tree is up and we have got the Christmas scented candles out so the evenings are cosy with spicy scents filling the air. We hope you have a lovely evening
|| ~ Trees ~ || “I think that I shall never see A poem lovely as a tree.
A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth’s sweet flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;
Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.
Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree.” || #CultivatedMan ~ Sergeant Joyce Kilmer
