What risk have you taken that you’re proudest of?
While I’ve been very open to risk in my career (moved to Berlin after college, quit two jobs without backup plans, started my own business), in other ways, I’m very risk-averse.
Though I’ve hopped on the roller coaster of living abroad and trying my hand at entrepreneurship, try to get me on an actual roller coaster (like, at an amusement park), and you’ll see… I’m not such a risk-taker when it comes to my physical well-being! In fact, I get pretty stubborn and inflexible about saying no.
Occasionally, though, I’m in a place where I can suspend my fear and basically say yes to everything. This year, that place was Thailand (where I am in the photo), where I went on my honeymoon in November.
I rode on the makeshift back of a pickup truck on the highway for over an hour to go see elephants. I tried really spicy food, even though pickiness is one of my trademarks. I went snorkeling even after being told there were stinging sea urchins in the water. And I kayaked through very narrow caves and essentially had a panic attack… but kept going.
I wasn’t always comfortable, but looking back, I’m proud of myself for throwing caution to the wind and letting myself experience many new things. (And equally grateful for all the Thai massages available to help me relax 😂.)
Such an interesting survey by @porchdotcom about all-things #freelancelife .
Suppose it shouldn't come as a surprise that the things people value most about an office environment are also the things people miss when they strike out on their own.
Feeling connected to co-workers is a big one for me which is why I favour working in public spaces over working from home. I wonder if all the random people in this coffee shop know they're secretly my colleagues? 😉

Huddle was perhaps my biggest brief of all. One thing I learned is that branding is HARD!! My aim for this brief was to create a new telco reflect the evolutionary, fast and social needs of families. It embraces “bundling” and being part of an “all-in” service, which makes it easier for families to stay connected.
« One little piece of advice for any new freelancers: make sure you are visible! I learned this after being “discovered” by a Workshift administrator who just stumbled upon my profile by chance. At the beginning, I had no picture, and barely any information - providing this makes a world of difference. It takes a little work at the beginning, but it is the best investment you will ever make as a freelancer on Workshift. » (By ‘‘anzunoki’’, our freelancer from Canada! • Inspiration • “Don’t be afraid to move forward.”
It can sometimes feel easier to say what you think people want to hear.
To do what people expect of you
It can also be the easiest way to hide.
Because if you really share what you believe, what you desire, what you fear, your whole heart.
You risk a lot
You risk dismissal
You risk derision
You risk rejection
You risk abandonment
You risk disappointment
You risk misunderstandings
I won't tell you that those things won't happen because they do
All the time
I know as you probably do too.
And each hit was a secret gift
To uncover and show you your strength, your truth
I am grateful even for some of the toughest times
There was always a deeper message presented to me
That it was time let go of something
It was a deeper cry to show up in a way I was secretly afraid
Not seeing how my comfort was suffocating my vision
And drowning out the voice
That I believed would never be accepted
And yet, that is the voice that delivers everything you are so hungry to receive
Do you see the paradox?
I know you sense it.
You may allow a glimmer but you shrink back while trying to forget.
When, instead, it's time to remember.
The life force that is you.
All of it.
Deny it and you suffer it.
In your relationships
In your money
In your business
In your creative pursuits
It becomes one elaborate distraction
To allowing you to live fully.
While truly and deeply experiencing life.
That's why you are here.

Client acquisition is not just about PROCESS, it’s about PEOPLE.
Relying too much on ads to get you new clients simply wont work.... You need to get personal.
Stop thinking in terms of B2B & B2C and start thinking in terms of P2P... PEOPLE TO PEOPLE
You need to master your client acquisition process ORGANICALLY before you touch an ad. Paid marketing & advertising is awesome and powerful, but you must remember it is just a means of amplifying what your doing organically.
Get your organic strategy & process 100%, then scale with paid methods.
