It is an honor to be a part of the ENC visitor center evolution and contribute to unveiling all the great work the @emeraldnecklaceconservancy has been doing for the residents of Boston. Congratulations to @urbragraph Karen Mauney-Brobek, @jenmergel and countless other behind the scenes.
Also wanted to send special thank you to our decades long partner and friend Bill Bancroft @bill.bancroft furniture.

Huge thanks are due for this moment: Charlie from Philly visits Boston, learns here about how #fujikonakaya makes #fogsculpture & decides he wants to go see the parks! Why? Because of our FREE indoor exhibition #sculptingwithwater in the @emeraldnecklaceconservancy #shattuckvisitorcenter on the #backbayfens > Swipe to see how this space inside the 19th c #hhrichardson gatehouse has been transformed this month from a staff conference room to public displays on #fredericklawolmsted & #fujikonakaya . Olmsted famously quoted William Kent: “nature abhors a straight line” and preferred curves for the surprise around the bend. This is realized in our exhibition thanks to the amazing space concept & floating liner of @bosurbanarchitecture (@sillvitas & #paxtonsheldahl with @jonwasnotavailable), graphic layout by @extra_snaps with concept by @mtwtf_studio, and content research by @mpapows & @aaronahlstrom. I am so grateful for this brilliant team and all of our content readers who collaborated for us to launch this temporary exhibition to #testandlearn for our long term displays this spring. #learningspace#kidfriendly#rainorshine#gooddesign#lovehours#sculptingwithwater#fogxFLO#free
Over the past few months, I had the honour to work with the team at @EmeraldNecklaceConservancy, @bostonparksdept, amazing curator @jenmergel, generous donors and many partners who have been tirelessly working on bringing something fabulous to the city this #summer ! And we did it! "Fog x FLO: Fujiiko Nakaya on the Emerald Necklace" opened today at 5 locations along Boston's #EmeraldNecklaceParks . Available from August 11 until October 31 - #free & open to the public - renowned #Japanese#artist#FujikoNakaya 's bold and immersive #fogsculptures are created in celebration of the Conservancy's 20th anniversary in response to #FrederickLawOlmsted ’s designs in Boston’s largest park system. #FogxFLO is her largest and first multi-site art installation in her 50-year career. Thank you Fujiko-san for showing me how beautiful & generous #fog is! Don’t miss them if you are in Boston and catch all 5 locations. #client#lovemywork#publicart#artforall#fogart (photo credit: @melophoto81)
Due to weather we are canceling this evenings star gazing event. If you can find some sky clarity this weekend, the Perseids meteor shower will be visible ✨ looking for something else to do this weekend in the emerald necklace? Check out #fogxflo#emeraldnecklaceparks#fredericklawolmsted
The Olmsted Papers now online include his family letters and journals, drafts of his writings, correspondence with clients and colleagues, project proposals and reports, and other materials relating to his life and work. Separately, the Olmsted Associates Records at the Library contain documentation of the Olmsted successor firms from the late 19th century through the 1970s. Additional Olmsted materials, including architectural and design drawings, plans and other materials, are available at the Olmsted Archives housed at the Frederick Law Olmsted National Historic Site in Massachusetts.
Encountered this majestic toppled giant with a seat carved just for me. Mount Royal Park is a natural treasure designed by Central Park’s Frederick Law Olmsted. Navigating it is like a snakes and ladders game of stairways and paths that lead through the forest to magnificent lookouts and clearings where you always win. #mountroyalpark#montrealsummer#fredericklawolmsted
