Sometimes you gotta get a little weird
Couldn't get into my challenge pose today so after a nice little warm up I played around with some poses I've never tried.
Real talk time- I needed practice today like I need oxygen. You see, I have an almost 2 year old toddler which means I've been the center of this tiny persons world for nearly 2 years on top of everything else involved with raises 2 other children. I love my children more than life itself but it's been rough lately. Being the sun of which a toddler's world revolves around is taxing. And this is where, after over 6 years of being a mother, I've finally learned how critical self care is. I've coped in many ways over the years, none of which have been anywhere close to as effective as clearing some space, clearing my mind and physically doing something just for me. Yoga does nothing for my family, but when I'm done on my mat my cup is full again. And from that I can pour for them. There is literally nothing more beneficial to them than that.
Yesterday I went and got two glasses of wine. I complemented a mans handwriting he was journaling at the bar and had majestic handwriting. I have terrible handwriting so I always notice when someone has nice handwriting. We had about a 10 min conversation where he told me to change my inner dialogue and he saw the light in me that was so fucking bright and he couldn’t wait for it to come in an it’s full capacity and share it with the work. Thats exactly what I needed. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I’ve been going through a thing you see, when you realize things aren’t the way you thought they’d be but it’s no ones fault it’s based on choices you’ve made which aren’t bad it’s just not what you had in mind. ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ I’m dealing with accepting the outcome based on my choices, like I said I’m happy just not what I had in mind, feeling a bit restricted with what is that happening phrase #livingmybestlife ⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ In happy yoga news my #scorpionpose#vrschikasana is coming along i am gain more control and touching my hair!!! #yogaprogress ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀

What is your most treasured possession and why?
Puhh this one is hard. Do you know what firstly came to my mind ? A pillow, which originally I bought for my sister (it’s a heart with wings) and it ended up being my pillow and has travelled with me to almost every place I’ve been.. I just love this pillow. My boyfriend asked me a view times what I’ve got with this pillow because nobody else is allowed to sleep on it.. it’s simply special 😂🙈 (he got real upset and jealous because he thought it’s from another man) haha it’s not, I promise ✌🏻 .

Yep - it’s #forearmfriday and I’m pretty darn excited about it even though my weekend is so full. Heading into the 5th module of the 200 ytt I co lead and the anatomy we will look at are the foundations of our inversions! Excited to talk about scapular stability, external shoulder rotators, pectorals, and other anatomy nerd dialogue. What are you doing this weekend? Thinking pink for my girl and #ym500 sister @yoginiinheels 🌸
be y o u tiful
you are beautiful now
you were beautiful yesterday
you’ll be beautiful tomorrow
inside & out
what others think of you doesn’t matter
what matters is what you think of yourself
how you perceive yourself
honestly, just be your b e s t self
because what more can you or anyone else ask for?
we are impermanent humans
here only for a marked amount of time
we m u s t make the most of our time on this precious planet
to waste it by being too hard on ourselves...
so just be you.
be the best you.
that’s all we need
that’s all y o u need.
MUCH needed R&R these past few days 🤤 I’ve been lounging around getting some work done with a little black frenchie always begging for food on my lap (if you’ve seen any of my stories) 😂 Rested + ready for this weekend’s Upstate NY AcroFest hosted by @drjoannewuyoga 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Teaching two offerings on Sat + Sun and then it’s back to Dallas next week 😍 .
Loved meeting @meliniseri & @sfreneenyc (📸) in NYC! ♥️ Bending in Henna & Jungle @aloyoga 👗
Opening the spine: this process is a constant journey. We hold so much tension in the unseen parts of our body. When we start to get into those parts, thoughts arise. We convince ourselves that we aren’t good enough. Fear lives in the deepest parts of our bodies. It’s held there. When we begin to break that calcification in our fascia and our muscle, we begin to confront those things that we’ve left behind.
As the back opens, the mind opens with it. We may encounter so much pain here. We can begin to think about quitting or giving up. It’s in these moments that we have to dig our heels in. Yogas chitta vritti nirodhah - Yoga happens when there is stilling of the movement of thought.
Trevor Hall says: You can’t rush your healing. This is the long haul. It’s going to take time to get better. It’s going to take effort. But we have to arrive every day as if it’s the best life that we are capable of living.
Day 5 of #weyogaforthecause calls for a pose that makes you feel strong 💪🏼
I chose pincha for this because at one time #pinchamayurasana was my arch nemesis and also because it takes a lot of strength to hold this posture. We were also asked to share another change that we think can change the world.
I strongly feel that all the high technology we have in this age should be strictly for medicinal and military purposes. I think that technology has us absorbed in a massive amount of things that don’t matter. When I was little, like really little I remember my mom handing me her phone out of her bag in the car to tell my dad that mom couldn’t talk and she was driving. Now, people Snapchat and drive when there’s a good song on, or because they want a funny video of their friends in the backseat. Nowadays that seems more important than being safe enough not to put other people in danger. So many kids are running around with iPads and iPhones, for goodness sake Toys R Us went out of business 😭😩 why? Because everyone is buying their children technology instead of toys. Who wants a play house when you can build your own on an app? I worked at a doctors office once where the patients would fill out an iPad instead of paperwork. It’s was a requirement for ALL patients even the elderly who could give two shits about technology and know little to nothing about it. Needless to say handing an 84 year old woman an iPad was mortifying.
Go outside and play. Watch the clouds move, fly a kite, PAY ATTENTION WHEN YOU DRIVE and put your phone down, buy your kids a swing set or a sandbox, have time restraints on the use of technology. Our brains are built for the natural world, they are not wired and plugged into the wall. ✌🏼✨
Fallen a bit out of practice lately - life, summer, heat and work have distracted me. And you know what, that’s ok, I can always pick up where I left off. Sometimes the expectations I set for myself are just that, and it’s ok if they aren’t met. Often times, we are our own worst critic.
This week I was finally able to pick up where I left off. Pincha Mayurasana, a work in progress over the last few years - opening up my shoulders, building strength, getting over my fear of falling, commitment, patience, teachers that challenge me and so much more inside work has gotten me to this point. Life is always a moving target.
TGIF folks! P.S @yogasina this one is for you!

If you love something, love it completely, cherish it, say it, but most importantly, show it. Life is finite and fragile, and just because something is there one day, it might not be the next. Never take that for granted.
Say what you need to say, then say a little more. Say too much. Show too much. Love too much.
Everything is temporary but love. Love outlives us all.
