1 year of starting yoga myself. It's hard but I'm trying to practice it. Its very good. The body and breath have changed. My back is curved from the computer work, but now I believe it comes back to normal because of yoga. I have flexibility of the body. That great sound.

As the year winds down I can’t help but look back and think of my year and yoga.
I started off the year with a renewed passion for the ashtanga practice and found that my motivation to practice at home was dwindling.
For most of the year, my home practice was distracted, chaotic, and often aimless.
Having started my yoga journey with a consistent home practice I found myself lost in search of community and connection.
So often we are planting the seeds for future realities subconsciously and as I craved this connection it was found.
My practice shifted from a quiet, home practice to an empowered studio experience.
By the last quarter of the year I’d started second series and was loving the new world it was opening up.
At the same time I was supplementing my practice with hot yoga.
The irony that it was an ashtanga practice that injured me, is not lost on me. Primary series, actually. 🤣
But injuries often have funny consequences. 
It was an injury that started me on my yoga journey. A broken wrist to be exact.
Let’s see what this injury will bring. 😏

Practicing a transition I haven’t thought of for a long time - transitioning from headstand to forearm balance. I like it because it’s one of those things that your brain doesn’t quite get at first, and then all of a sudden, it happens. To be honest this isn’t what my practice looks like most of the time - but it’s super interesting to take a step back from the advanced stuff, work on refined biomechanics and then see how poses like this feel way better. Also I don’t put any weight on my head when headstanding, so this transition is mostly in the shoulder mobility and shifting of hand position (me moving my head is just me trying to free my hair 🙈) I find it so interesting to film stuff like this because you can watch the lines of the spine and see where they’re strong (like in headstand) and where they need even more stability work. Inversions are a long journey but a fun one 🙃

This week's #presstolower was fun to play with: drop back to wheel ➡️ drop to camel pose ➡️ press to pincha ➡️ land in baby crow. Sorry for the bad lightening 🙈. . 
pincha is still the least favorite for me... but I keep working on it and a push to play with it is good for me. Landing in baby crow is not really happening. All this transitions from pincha and handstand remain a mystery to me. But I think I am progressing, I was never that close to land it before. Big aim for next year 🙌.

Sometimes the pups need some real talk. Wednesday knows the drill of this already and she's just testing me with what she can get away with (as jack russels always do)
She always talks to me by grunts (cause she knows I dont like whiners😂😂😂) my little piggy🐷 
You can hear her right after I say Gigi can stay. She didnt seem comfortable enough to stay at first but her ears perked up after I asked like "no ma, I wanna stay!"😂😂 ooook then😊

I see @coffeeandrainbows and a few other fierce and beautiful souls pressing up so easily and it’s so inspiring! I love this IG community for that! 
Someone just asked me if I always feel as amazing as a look which is a sweet question and the answer is no! Ofcourse not! But no, @fierce_calm no there are some moments in time where I don’t feel as amazing as I look or vice verse but love yoga for bringing me back to center and teaching me its all an illusion of the mind anyway. I switched up my yoga space today and took my practice to my parents’ house. 
I’m feeling remarkably comfortable hopping up into a pincha tuck with both legs and away from the wall. Something that just two weeks ago was still very scary for me. #practicepracticepractice 
It’s all about repetition!
Any extension of the spine is still vulnerable territory for me so I’ve been exploring this movement a lot in my practice coming from many different angles.
There’s something I did wrong that caused this injury and I must learn what that is, or I’m doomed to repeat it.
This injury, and subsequent search has caused me to retrieve back into my home practice, which is a welcomed surprise.
It’s also caused me take more time to create a good ambience in my yoga space, something I’ve been feeling lacking in the last few months.

Forearm stand entry : - in the first video, I was walking in as much as I can with straight legs and as I lean forward, my hips went over my elbows and I was able to lift up without jumping.

In video 2, as I walked in, my knees stayed bent and since my hips didn't go over enough, I had to do a small hop into the inversion.
.
Whether you plan to kick up, or press up, get the hips over is more important than having the legs go over your head.
.
But having said all that, it also depends on how you normally balance in your forearm stand.

Pincha Mayurasana (Forearm Balance) doesn't always feature regularly in my asana repertoire, but every so often, I like to play with it.

Exactly 1 year ago today I was taking my graduation pictures. Looking back, I can definitely say my post-graduation plans did NOT go according to plan, but that’s pretty normal. After getting my Bachelors in Hospitality Management from the University Of Central Florida. I decided I wanted to start the journey to have my own restaurant. Therefore I started working at a local vegan restaurant with intentions on moving up to management, which was known by the owner and current managers. After 2 months, a manager fired me because from 7 day’s a week I cut down to 5. I did so because I wanted to teach more yoga, my other passion, but their excuse was that I wasn’t committed enough. I was devastated. I had NEVER been fired in my life and this was THE plan after graduation. I struggled emotionally and of course financially, and so I decided I needed a new plan. I went on to finish getting my real estate license. Unfortunately, it was very expensive to even call myself a Realtor, and as I had been previously fired I had used up my savings to survive during that time without a job. I still continued to teach yoga and do personal training on the side, but that wasn’t enough to cover all the Realtor expenses, plus my bills. I also tried to be a group fitness manager but that’s another story that went south. I then noticed I was getting more clients for yoga and personal training, rather than for real estate. I decided to take the leap of faith and hold off on real estate. Now, I make a living from private and public lessons. I have my own business and I am working to expand my business via the web. Aside from all the roller coaster I went through, one thing is clear: we have no idea how life will unfold. It’s great to have an idea, a plan, but it’s important to not be too attached to any outcome. I’m glad things unfolded the way they did. Everything happened exactly the way it needed to for me to be where I am now. Even when you don’t understand what’s happening and you think the world is crumbling, it’s actually building itself up for your next chapter. Trust the way things happen. Trust your timing. Everybody’s story is different. Who knows what’s the next chapter ✨

👣PISTOL TOES | Lower body strength progression. *Warm up first*
HEELED PISTOL TOES 4x15x
From standing cross one leg behind you and sit on your heel, when you have the balance, lift your other foot and become a PISTOL ON TOES squat. Repeat other leg. If you have trouble finding your balance, it is fine, you can keep your foot touching the floor with the big toe.
CRUSTY SQUATS 4x6x
The crusty squats are a good preparation to progress to a dragon squat/ cross legged squat.
From standing cross one leg behind you and touch the floor with your knee, come up to standing and repeat the other leg. Do this for 6 and repeat 3 more times. Rest of you need to but not to long.
TWISTED CRUSTY 4x6x
This variation is fun and will challenge you to be more aware of your body mobility, flexibility and strength. Do it also for 6 and repeat 3 more times.
