Sergio Aguero continues to show why he could be regarded as one of the best strikers to ever grace the premier league. The Argentine was in exceptional form at the weekend with a hat-trick against Huddersfield. We've reviewed a few of Aguero's games and have highlighted some of his key attributes.
Scoring goals for Aguero is second nature.
As soon as Aguero receives the ball, he has already planned on what to do. If Aguero is in a position to shoot, he will constantly shift the ball between either foot in order to create the best goal scoring opportunity. With any elite striker the ability to have a calm mind in a crowd of madness is essential, and Aguero is a prime example of this.
If a defender forgets to check their shoulders whilst playing against Aguero, the game could be all over. In a team when your goalkeeper is able to play through a ball, it's no shock that Aguero is constantly trying to make runs in between the oppositions defence. Aguero also compliments his wingers and midfielders with his movement. He will often drop into the pocket of space between the defence and midfield in order to receive the ball. This leaves space in behind for players like Sterling, Sane and De Bruyne to capitalise.
⚽️Attitude and Application
This is Aguero's best attribute and arguably one of the most important in football. At one point it seemed as though Aguero's days at City were done with the emergence of Gabriel Jesus. Aguero has waited patiently for his opportunity, which he has taken with both hands. Rather than hand in a transfer request and moan about the fact he is no playing, Aguero commits himself to every game giving a hard day's work to any defender. Aguero is now City's all-time goal scorer.
