Question::: Why did I transition from simply a holistic nutritionist to a food therapist as well??
Fun fact::: I gained and lost the same damn 100lbs-3 times!
By this time I had decision, self discipline and motivation EXHAUSTION.
I was hopeless, angry, depressed and lived as a victim of my “DNA” (that was a lie too)
And not until I worked through the traps, deceptions and mentalities that kept bringing the weight back, was I able to EMBRACE THE PROCESS to heal my ABUSED endocrine, hormone and metabolism to finally be able to keep the weight off. (Over ten years now)
HEAR ME WHEN I SAY:::: DIETING is actually a consistent predictor of WEIGHT GAIN! .
To keep this post short- just KNOW THIS... when we eliminate BLAME, GUILT, self LIES and WORRY our health WILL improve! 💭 #deepthought

Omelet in a saucy toasted pizza bread. Do you every feel saucy ?!?recipe/instructions: Fried onions in an omelet, topped on a pizza dough topped with tomato sauce, salt and lots of black pepper. Toasted in my toaster oven 6 minutes. After that I sprinkled some good Parmesan cheese right on to the sauce and then placed fried onion omelet right on top it! I have posted a TON over the last week about my program. Thank you for reading and for being so patient!
It's because I believe it in and believe in your ability to succeed, that I wanted you to know exactly what to expect if you were to take that leap of faith and join us. I don’t want you to enter into any kind of program or invest in it without you being an 100% “yes” and making a truly informed decision.
A couple of quick things:
Doors close tomorrow at 11 p.m. Eastern for your chance to join the Eating Empowerment Series.
I just added another really cool bonus to incentivize you further.
Anyone who join today will receive a fully customizable and interactive shopping list URL, pre-populated with macronutrient balanced ingredients. It also includes a complete guide to a healthy pantry resource. (free for 6 months)
Here’s an example of mine - which I change and customize all the time. www.bberk.com/shopping
This feature (developed by my amazing techie hubs) is yours completely free as an added value to an already invaluable 10-week experience.
Here’s what will happen when you join:
1. You’ll receive a login info to access the classroom portal and you can get started right away in reviewing some of the materials.
2. You’ll join the free private FB group and get started mingling with the grad and new students in the program and developing connections and relationships.
3. You’ll receive an on-boarding email from me with further instructions
4. All of the 6 bonuses I listed yesterday will be sent right over to you, including a snail mail copy of my best-selling book, “The Body Image Blueprint”. AND **You can get started for as little as $133 a month when you choose the 12-month payment plan option.** The time is now to completely transform your relationship with food and body.
You can do it. You just have to be willing to step out of your own way, remove the blocks and yes, even take a leap of faith.
Story Time... I used to fantasize about falling down the stairs.
Or maybe falling up the stairs.
It didn’t really matter which, as long as I broke my jaw.
Then they would have to wire it shut.
Then maybe, just maybe I could stop eating.
Because that was the problem, right?
Maybe then I would lose weight and finally be worth the significance and love I so desperately craved. .
Living in this body had become a struggle... the defeat, hopelessness, guilt, shame and despair was so deep within my veins. Enough to try to end it all once and for all.
I couldn’t stop thinking about all the things I should or shouldn't eat- which was really about thinking about all the things I wasn't or, even worse, all the things I was.
I couldn’t get out of my skin which reminded me every breathing moment that I was unwanted, worthless, fat, uncomfortable and an overall failure. .
The lies were deep and they were loud. .
I also knew deep down that I was created by a loving God.
One who made me unique.
One who hurt when I hurt.
One who desperately wanted me to find my freedom so I could stop existing and begin to live my true LYFE... the one He ultimately created me FOR!
This tattoo was my first. "I am my Beloveds- and my Beloved is mine."
Everytime I looked in the mirror and wanted to tear myself apart with negativity, speak words of death or take my own life. I was reminded that I was also tearing apart the one that loved all of me.
The real me.
The one who knew my every tear and true despair.
It led to a process of detoxing from speaking death and defeat over myself. From there it was a long road of recovery and healing that had little to do with food, some to do with nutrition but overall had to do with acceptance and love.
As I started to find my worth, I finally found the desire to nourish and even love this girl who, like you, is worthy of Freedom in every area of her life.
Who was and is made for more than existing. 💜
That is just the beginning... ... FYI: There is Hope- there is healing- and we don’t have to do it alone. .
MORE hard work
ANOTHER fitness trainer....
Hmmmm... could be that maybe the way we’ve always done things is NOT the way to healing, health or sustainable weight loss. **I have not lost 100+ lbs and kept it off for 12 years because I work harder than I used to, or even harder than YOU DO!
My friend, your emotional, compulsive, binge eating is not going to change by working HARDER (you’ve already done that)- it’s going to change by working DIFFERENT.
Because... YOU ARE #madeformore ✨
Just started reading THE #foodtherapist ,
"Breaking bad habits, Eating with intension & indulging without worry".
Thinking back to a few weeks ago. I shall be back my sweet. And this time I'll leave guilt at home.
What do you indulge on the #weekends ?
You know that's right 🙌 I would add that both strength AND flexibility are important to a strong and resilient body. I like to teach movement through all planes, using isolation and activation of the spine as well as ALL those little muscles that attach to it. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This specific method of muscle activation is the reason why it's possible to increase bone density (even in difficult areas like the lumbar spine!) address postural deviations like kyphosis + scoliosis and increase spinal muscle density. And all this without weights or equipment, tailored perfectly to your body's design.
“Low self-esteem is like driving through life with your hand brake on.” -- Maxwell Maltz
I’m convinced that NO one is born with limitless self-confidence. If someone seems to have incredible self-confidence, it’s because they have worked on building it for years. ✨🙌🏼
Self-confidence is the thing that was THE biggest shift in my journey to freedom with food. And guess what… it turned out that it had very little to do with my weight and body. *1. Visualize yourself as you want to be.
What the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.
*2. Affirm yourself.
Affirmations are a powerful tool to deliberately change the patters and beliefs about yourself.
*3. Do one thing that scares you every day.
You are not alone with insecurities.
The rest of the world is too.
Do not overestimate the world and underestimate yourself. *4. Question your inner critic.
You have been criticizing yourself for years, and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.
*5. Take the 100 days of rejection challenge. (Google search it- it’s amazing!) No one can make you feel inferior without your consent and permission.
*6. Set yourself up to win.
To establish true self-confidence, we must concentrate on our successes and stop replaying the failures and the negatives.
*7. Help someone else
Our lives are not just about us. We tend to forget that. You have so much to give. *8. Care for yourself.
Self-care is never a selfish act -- it is simply good stewardship of the only gift we have. We can have nothing to contribute without the overall health of who we are.
*9. Create personal boundaries.
Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one’s definition of your life, but define yourself.
*10. Shift to an equality mentality.
Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you already are.
FORM TIPS: Here I'm demonstrating a Lat pull as usually seen on the plie sequence during many of the T-Tapp workouts. My feet are in T-Tapp stance for demo purposes. My eyes are closed in the first photo because...too much SUN😜
💥In the first photo, I am performing the move, but not optimally. Notice how my knees are locked out and I am not fully engaging my core, as my back is arching out. I am also hyperextending my elbows and hands WAY behind my head. Teresa says, “elbows forward, hands back” but I am way overdoing it at the expense of the rest of my form. My ribs look to be up, but I am arching out my back to get them there instead of lifting and s-t-r-e-t-c-h-i-n-g them up to the ceiling from my core muscles.
💥The second photo shows better and more optimal T-Tapp form. Looks can be deceiving, eh? But let me tell you, what I am doing right here is SO HARD! Looking at this picture now, I probably needed to get my elbows forward and hands back a little more, but y'al I was SHAKING when this photo was snapped by my self timer! Ha! My core is firing and activated all the way from the pelvis to breastbone, and this activation is the solid base from which I lift the rib cage tall, but without leaning backwards as shown in the first photo.
This acts as resistance, and stretches out the frontal fascial plane while taking pressure off the low back plus activating the lumbar spine which creates spinal muscle density (whew!) It also evenly activates the lats and traps instead of more traps as seen in the first picture. I am making every little muscle move as if through mud. Aaaand my arms are on fire with activation, in the bear claw position and stretching thumbs. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
💥Your BEST FRIEND when T-Tapping is 1. A trainer to spot for you 😉😂 or 2. A MIRROR!! It will tell you exactly what you are doing, because many times we feel like we are doing the move, but we are really letting the body take the “path of least resistance.” Some of us (like me🙋) have a tendency to hyperextend our joints, which creates further imbalance. When you can see this in action, like in a mirror, you can make a change.
Baby foods😍 This was her "second breakfast, solid food edition." 😂 Featuring blueberries (her favorite thing right now) egg yolks, cucumber, grass fed gelatin fruit gummies, and cinnamon applesauce spiked with liver paté. 😜
I try to offer a variety and inevitably, she leaves one thing on the plate untouched. We started 3 months ago with liver paté, bone marrow and avocado. I wanted to get as much bioavailable iron in her as possible at 6 months, which is when it's been shown that babies are slightly anemic. And funny enough, she naturally gravitated towards those foods. Now, at 9 months, we still do liver/marrow but right now she's stuck on fruit and sweet potatoes, which is also fine by me😜 Babies are the best intuitive eaters by far.
She's not allergic to anything, though I haven't decided what to do about dairy yet, as she has a family history on her Dad's side of the family for dairy intolerance. Good quality, low processed dairy for starting a baby with is hard to come by in this state (I'm looking at you, North Carolina)🙄
