When deciding what to eat at a restaurant, I always like to ask the person taking my order what their favourite dish on the menu is. On this occasion at @hanoibikeshop, we were recommended this Sticky Chicken from the Street Food section of the menu. It's crispy, spicy, sticky... and just plain delicious. Good shout, good shout 👏 I'll definitely be back for more 🤤
Gluten-free diet had to wait yesterday. No I never heard, let alone made this kind of noodle before.
🍜 Called ‘La Mian’ noodle because it’s made by stretching, spinning, and pulling technique into fine strands using the weight of dough.
🍜 Chewy textured noodle - freshness like none I tried before from little corner shop who’s owner originally came from Xin Jiang, China. 😋

The stuff in the orange bottle is chatsarganii shuus, or sea-buckthorn juice. It’s a Mongolian favorite made from a berry that grows naturally in the western province of Uvs. It looks like orange ketchup but you mix it with water and it’s an excellent source of vitamin C. Eight times more than a kiwi 🥝. My Chinese bunkmate picked up a bottle at a quick platform stop and shared a bit with me. Can’t say it was my favorite but at least I kept the scurvy at bay!

Our journey to Nepal-Bhutan this year was enchanting as can be! Its been a while but we’re finally going to pen down our journey and share it with you to experience through pictures.
After landing at the KTM airport, we headed straight to Om lodge, a pocket-friendly backpackers paradise. Keeping in mind our ever hungry stomachs we decided to ACTUALLY begin our journey.
Craving for some authentic Nepali food, we took out our list of restaurants we'd bookmarked and checked off Gaia Restaurant. Gaia is usually crowded and yet has a soothing ambience with their dark wood furniture and lit candles lending to their earthy vibe. The thali includes Vegtable Thupka, Daal (lentil soup), rice, Aachaar, papad and Salad. Sure, this is similar to our Indian thaalis but which Indian thali serves you thukpa? 😍

¼ small loaf stale sourdough, crusts removed, wrapped in plastic wrap and frozen (overnight)
25 gm (about ¼ cup) capers in salt, soaked overnight in cold water
Olive oil, for shallow-frying, plus extra for drizzling
Finely chopped semi-dried olives (see note), to serve
100 ml olive oil
1 onion, sliced
1 small fennel bulb, sliced
1 kg octopus tentacles (see note)
1 tsp black peppercorns
3 dried bay leaves
250 ml dry white wine
100 ml olive oil
3 garlic cloves, thinly sliced
300 gm ripe tomatoes, diced
3 fresh bay leaves
¼ tsp chili flakes
150 gm Gaeta olives pitted and halved
¼ cup (loosely packed) flat-leaf parsley, coarsely chopped
