Rustic little apple tarts - these babies are gluten and dairy free, and I bet you wouldn't know it!
I have a gf/df guest this week for some of my dinners, so have been experimenting with a few new recipes.
I used @namastefoodsllc gluten free flour blend and @earthbalance butter to make my crust. Give it a try next time you feel like experimenting!
I was really happy with how these came out, and I made a struesel topping with the ingredients too.
A lot of you messaged and asked for the tart recipe, so I thought I would just put it up here, and I'll post it up on my blog soon.
This sweet pastry crust is based off a recipe from one of my old restaurants.
GLUTEN AND DAIRY FREE APPLE TARTS
17.75 ounces of gluten free flour (about 4 cups)
1/2 tsp salt
1/8 c sugar
10 oz of cubed, cold earth balance butter
1/4 c cold water (may need 1-2 TBS more if mix is too dry)
Combine flour with salt and sugar in a mixing bowl.
Add butter and mix or rub with your fingers until the butter is almost completely incorporated.
Add egg and mix.
Add cold water (may need a little more if mix is too dry) just until it starts to come together. Dough will be crumbly but you should be able to work a small piece of it into ball as a test.
Knead lightly, wrap in plastic, and let rest at room temp for 30 minutes.
Roll as needed and fill with sliced apples that are tossed with a good handful of sugar, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and a few spoonfuls of cornstarch.
I baked mine at about 375° for about 30 minutes. .

Hoy en maridaje food and music... SPAGUETTI CARBONARA

I’m telling you, the first meal prep after a vacation is always SO good! 😍This was a very special prep, keep reading to find out why.⠀
👫So this is for 2 people (not sure how many days, but 3-4) who are both into veggies and eating healthy. We eat about the same amount of food. It took 3 hours and the groceries cost $67 which comes out to $4.18/meal (not including the banana bread). All of this will be stored in the fridge and I’m not sure what the calories are because I don’t count!⠀
✌🏼From now on, I’m going to be prepping for two most of the time!⠀
🍎Breakfast option 1: apple pie overnight oats (recipe in the WWL Meal Prep Program, link in bio)⠀
🍌Breakfast option 2: one bowl loaded vegan banana bread (recipe for WWL members only!)⠀
🍃Meal option 1: chickpea, butternut squash and spinach salad with pepitas, dried cranberries and feta cheese (recipe in this week’s WWL meal plan)⠀
Meal option 2: teriyaki baked salmon with rice and broccoli (recipe coming soon to WWL meal plans)⠀
🍟Meal option 3: black bean burger with asparagus and sweet potato fries on a bed of spinach (recipe coming soon to WWL meal plans)⠀
🙏🏼This prep is special because it’s also the first one for my partner and I, and if you’ve been following me on stories you know that my partner has been gone for 11 months and just got back!
Japanese cuisine is an art and can only be authentic when you put all the right components together. A dish is considered well harmonized in Japanese cuisine when it feels peaceful to look at, when food looks as good as it tastes. Its really about meaning of each single component, plating, serving-ware, ingredients, vibe. All things matter: exteriors, decor, plating, colors, hidden meanings of each ingredient, how menu is written, seasonality. Japanese restaurants are for moments for yourself or share them with people you care about #authenticrestaurant#crabfood#季節料理#日本料理店#vibesdontlie#foodideas#japanesefoodculture#diningout#和食店
