Looking back 2-3 years ago if I was sick, I would push myself to keep going and not rest. A normal cold would usually last a week for me, but would turn into 3-4 weeks of sickness. I rarely get sick now, but this head cold has hit me hard the last few days! I’ve had to tell myself to rest. This isn’t easy especially when I’m just getting on a roll with things. Self care is essential and I’m taking time out to figure out where the imbalances are. Diet and Grounding in nature is definitely something that isn’t on point. My cooking mainstays are things I have learnt to throw together over the years, things I can cook on autopilot. It’s often been about survival - what’s affordable, nutritious and delicious. Problem is, my cooking can get in a bit of a rut (though I’m always browsing cookbooks, food mags and the glorious world of food on the interwebs), and whenever I do actually follow a recipe - I mean to the letter - I learn so much and this in turn feeds into the storehouse of ideas I can draw from. So yesterday, I took away the idea of making a crust for all sorts of veggies, something I’ve only used on meat and fish before, as well as premixing a flavoured oil to coat the pumpkin with before being, and opposed to just sploshing on some oil and randomly chucking on whatever herbs and spices I can lay my hands on quickly. This was a more considered approach and it paid dividends. Will be enjoying the remainder of this for lunch today, and to make it a meal, will add in some feta and maybe #putaneggonit. Have a delicious day! .

🛑 5 Fit Tips to STOP Following 🛑

1. 1200 calories is likely NOT enough. Even for you to lose weight, you probably need to be eating more than you think. You have to be a small person to function well at 1200 calories. Put in the time and do it the right way, with plenty of doos 🍎🥦🥩🥔🍣🍠🌮 2. With that, stop living in a constant deficit (eating less than you’re burning). Eventually your deficit will stop being your deficit, and you can only go so low. As hard as it is to hear and do, sometimes you have to gain a little bit of weight before you cut.

3. Diet pills, shakes, wraps, etc. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it a million more times.. you might lose an initial bit of weight, but it WILL NOT last long term if it’s done the wrong/quick fix way. (And most of it is usually water weight 🤷🏻‍♀️). Stop wasting your time and money, and just put it toward the process that works for you and is sustainable!

4. Endless cardio.. stop it. Yes, cardio has benefits and can help put you in a deficit. Will just doing hours and hours of cardio get you to your goals? Probably not. Also, if you had running, don’t. You’ve gotta do what’s sustainable.

5. Stop avoiding the weight room and heavy weights. Weight lifting will not make you fat/bulky, only a caloric surplus will do that. Lifting weights will actually help you reach your goals faster!

There are a lot of fads, fixes, and fakes out there. Here’s the truth: figure out what you enjoy, and what works for you, for fitness and nutrition. If it’s not something you can do long term, you’re not going to stick to it. Of course you can change things along the way, but always make sure it works for you!

Wellness Wednesday! Take some time for yourself today because you deserve it! It is so refreshing and good for your health I promise :) I got off work earlier today so I will definitely be making time for myself. I'm going to workout and do a Zumba class later which is fun for me and a great way to get my cardio 😉 afterwards I think I'll take a relaxing Epsom salt and lavender bath to unwind and maybe finish a movie. For lunch I made a chicken hummus wrap which was divine! I used a @sietefoods cassava and chia tortilla, with @majesticgarlic sprouted hummus, baked herbed non-gmo chicken, organic greens, watermelon radish, roasted beets, carrots, zuchinni, and cauli-rice 👌Yummm!! .

When I eat my salads I always make sure I have a very generous portion of protein to go on it or with my greens. Each week is getting closer & closer to our month long caravan trip to Queensland. 
We're so excited to take the kids on a big adventure & see some of our beautiful country

There was an adorable lounge area where you could sip on some fresh Bulletproof coffee or @berkey_filters water, a great book selection on holistic wellness, and these DELICIOUS baked goods 🤤 even better? Your body is holding onto every morsel of food you eat and storing it as fat because it doesn’t know when it will get it next meal. Make sense? Your metabolism, essentially, down regulates in order to burn less calories and help you survive. .

Sunday was a complete write off, spent the whole day on the sofa dying, no gym no nothing, luckily I'd already planned all my food n it just so happened to b comfort food 😍😍
Breakfast was chocolate proats made with @goddessnutrition Belgian chocolate lean recovery protein and topped with homemade almond butter and @phdnutritionuk diet whey dark choca mocha bar and @justinescookies double choc dream protein brownie
Midmorning snack was 100g Greek yoghurt with 50g blueberries and the rest of the bar and cookie
Dinner was slow cooked ribs marinated in a spice rub I made using paprika, cumin and coriander and onion salt, with homemade coleslaw and sweet potato fries 
Supper was a peanut butter cup mug cake made with @phdnutrition peanut butter cup #smartprotein with some hand picked blackberries picked by my father in law and homemade almond butter
