Blood sugar problems are NOT only for diabetics!
If you have ever experienced sleepiness after meals or in the afternoon, then you already know something vital about maintaining proper blood sugar levels and that, by not doing so, it can affect your mood, stability, energy, and performance.
Did you know that having steady blood sugar levels is the one thing that every person who lives over 100 (centurion) has in common? Research shows that the best foods for enjoying good weight are those that don’t cause a sharp rise in blood sugar levels. Balanced blood sugar is associated with physical and emotional health, as well as, and of course, longevity.
If you are having problems with sugar cravings, feeling moody, or feel the need for caffeine, needing or wanting a nap in the afternoons, or trouble sleeping, you may have a problem balancing your blood sugar.
Fortunately, not all blood sugar imbalances require major treatments, and by taking control of your sugar consumption, you can greatly improve the way you feel.
And that, my friends, is why I love my pink drink!
How do you get more out of eating less this Christmas (without even trying)?
Spend more time appreciating everything the season has to offer.
I still think Christmas Eve is my favourite day of the year. The anticipation and the build up is totally magical: everyone starts to look relaxed and happy as they finish their work, the streets are lit up with lights, every window frames a festive picture… the atmosphere is incredible.
And then you get to be at ease with your family and friends. The people who mean the most to you. They’re all loving life, excited and ready to give you all of their time and attention for the next few days.
There’s carolling and candlelight, the smell of log fires burning away, glitter and gold beneath a heavily festooned tree. It’s a beautiful celebration unlike anything else.
And when there’s so much else to enjoy, I still wonder why I used to be so frantically focused on the food.
I still enjoy the food. I have a feast, no doubt about it. But it’s not the center of everything. It doesn’t consume my every thought the way it used to. I don’t worry about it, feel guilty afterwards, or come to January 1st with the resolution to lose the same 10 pounds as the year before.
I’m able to make more conscious decisions not to have food and drink just because it’s there.
I choose the things that make Christmas special for me, and skip the other bits and pieces.
I slow my eating right down. I appreciate every bite of those delicious foods. And I enjoy the atmosphere, the company, I savour every moment.
How does that feel to you? Will you try it this year and see what difference it makes?
I promise you’ll you get much more out of eating much less, and you won’t have the same anxiety about what you’re eating.

Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups
Servings 9 large cups
Calories 304 kcal
Author Lacey Baier
16 oz dark chocolate (60-70% cacao), chopped
1/2 cup natural peanut butter
3 tbsp coconut oil
To melt the chocolate, use either a double boiler or a large bowl placed over, but not touching, a pot of boiling water.
Add the chocolate and 2 tbsp the coconut oil and allow both to melt completely, while stirring occasionally.
Once everything is smooth, turn off the heat, but leave the bowl on the pot to keep warm.
In a small bowl, combine the peanut butter with the remaining 1 tbsp. coconut oil.
Line a plate, muffin tin (my preferred method), or small cutting board with cupcake liners. You could make these using mini or regular cupcake molds, depending on what size you’d like them to turn out. I recommend doubling up the liners to give them a bit more structure.
Now, pour enough of the melted chocolate mixture to cover the bottom of each liner.
Then, place them in the freezer for about 5 minutes to set.
Once set, add a small scoop of the peanut butter mixture into the center of the cup and gently flatten with your thumb or the back of a spoon.
Pour enough melted chocolate over the peanut butter to cover the top, about 1-2 tablespoons.
Place back into the freezer for about 25-30 minutes to completely set.
If you’re not going to eat these right away, make sure to remove the peanut butter cups from the freezer about a half hour before serving and place them into the fridge to thaw some. Otherwise, they’ll be difficult to bite through.
Let's discuss the elephant in the room..🐘
How many of you have heard of #shakeology ?
How many of you have heard shakeology is a scam?
I bet many of you.
Now how many of you take supplements, multi-vitamins or were ordered to take folic acid supplements when you were pregnant? Or take calcium supplements to help prevent osteoporosis? or take vitamin c when you feel a cold is coming on?
I bet many of you. .
The reason we take supplements is to get the things our bodies require to function optimally that we can't or don't get from our diets. Taking vitamins or supplements promotes good health, helps prevent disease, some help fight off free radical damage and can literally help us heal from the inside out. We spend a fortune on topical things that make us look younger and feel good, but won't invest in the things that can keep us younger on the inside where it counts. If you take a look at the ingredients in shakeology- even just a few of them, you'll come to see that shakeology is as much of a scam as the GNC or POPEYE stores or your DR. telling you to take more folic acid when your carrying around a little bundle of joy in your belly.
Is it a bit pricey? Depends how you look at it. There's a way you can get it cheaper and I can spend more on a cup of Joe at Starbucks than a shake.
Is it going to make you bloated or uncomfortable? It may if you've been eating like garbage. It takes 2 weeks to 3 months for your gut flora to clear out the shit, literally, and get your gut health back to where it should be.
Can it aid in you losing weight? It helps with cravings and if your body is getting all necessary nutrients it CAN actually help you lose weight. Better yet, with continued use, it can be the catalyst for you to feel better enough to start that workout program.
Does it taste good?Personally I LOVE the taste of it and my body craves it especially with ICE and nut milk. Protein powder on it's own doesn't taste good and many people have a hard time choking down veggies. If your protein shake does taste amazing on it's own, chances are there are hidden sweeteners in it. There are no additives or preservatives in this one!

Buon appetito! 🍽
