My great aunt gave me this verse when I was a young girl. Over the years it’s been a verse I keep going back to. Sleep hasn’t always come easy, particularly when I am stressed. 19 years I’ve struggled with insomnia. I thought I would never again sleep thru the night. Over a year ago I took the chance on some plant based supplements that have rocked my world. I’ve healed from food allergies, gut issues, interstitial cystitis, migraines, insomnia, depression, anxiety. I’ve said goodbye to many issues that plagued me and hello to living my life again. Too many years I spent in bed sick, missing out. Gut health is the foundation for healing my friends. What if this is the last thing you tried? You never know until you try!!!! #health#guthealth#probiotics#healthygut#healthcoach#healingjourney#interstitialcystitis#migraines#insomnia#foodallergies
Late night baking for tomorrow’s #BakedEgg Challenge. We were supposed to do this at home😳. Summer has been busy so far with weddings, showers, swim lessons, baseball games, rounds of out of town guests, it’s been difficult to find a chunk of time where I feel comfortable doing a challenge alone.😏 My son has had several bouts of #anaphylaxis in the past (to #milk not #eggs ), and we want to do it surrounded by support, so we are doing it at the allergist. As always I’m very skeptical—we’ve failed challenges before—and am not getting my hopes up.😐 We’ve been doing just fine without eggs for the past 9 years.😅🙅🏽♀️🥚🙅🏽♀️🍳 Thankfully for Tommy these muffins taste better than they look😝. I’m not even sure how much having the ability to eat baked egg will make, outside of being able to eat a decent #dairyfree brownie. 🤷🏽♀️ Wish us luck tomorrow! 😊😅😬🤔🤨🧐😅 #foodallergies#allergymom#eggfree#eggchallenge#i ❤️eggreplacer #eggreplacerismybff
Yesterday was my first trip to the grocery store since learning Jacob has food allergies. He’s had a rough year dealing with extreme eczema. For a long time that’s all we thought it was. Bad case of eczema. He gets terrible flare ups which cause him to itch and scratch uncontrollably. 👦🏼
Several months ago I started to suspect allergies and took him to see an allergist. The allergist tested him for seasonal allergies and didn’t think food allergy testing was necessary. We did find out that he had a severe allergy to pet dander. This was difficult considering we have 4 dogs at home and one sheds terribly. But we did what we could to keep him away from them and upped his Zyrtec intake. He cleared up for a while and then the flare ups came back.
When the eczema kept getting bad we took him to see a dermatologist last month. She too didn’t think food allergy testing was necessary. She did prescribe a stronger steroid cream and suggested we lather him with Aquaphor at every diaper change. Again, he got some relief but the flare ups continued to come back.
Last week he saw his Pediatrician for his regular check up and she was not happy with the current flare up he was having. She offered to do food allergy testing and I quickly accepted. Results came back Friday and we learned he his highly allergic to Milk, Tree Nuts and Eggs. Although I’m happy to finally have answers, I feel terrible he has so many allergies.
So now we have a long journey ahead and a lot of learning to do. If anyone has recommendations on kid friendly allergy-free foods, resources, or blogs; I most definitely would appreciate it. .
*DON’T FORGET TO HAVE FUN!*
Hey there 👋! It’s Annika from @wholeheartedlivingandwellness signing off with my last post of the week. .
I wanted to leave all of us with the reminder to remember to enjoy your life! It can be so easy (for me!) to be so focused on doing all the right things, making plans for health & keeping my head down. I have to remind myself to look up & have a little fun! Whether that means bike riding in the Mt. Rainier foothills near Seattle, enjoying a heart to heart conversation, or having a spontaneous dance party in the car, its so necessary to smile, enjoy a good belly laugh, exhale & just not take life so seriously. 🚴🏼♂️ 🤗 🌸
Thank you so much for letting me share life with you this week! I’d love to stay in touch! Come on over to @wholeheartedlivingandwellness & let’s stay friends! 🌻
I love YL products and that they’ve given me a chance to be a successful entrepreneur! I love my job! Work isn’t a 4 letter word for me. I look at work as creation, passion, making something, legacy, making the world a better place.
I took my daughter to Convention and she learned life lessons at age 11 that I’m only just now learning! We heard @ericworre and @melrobbinslive Speak! Priceless! She got to experience a crowd of like-minded individuals striving to better themselves. ❤️
Delighted to find out recently that there are two more teas I can have. Sleepytime has been a favorite of mine since I was a kid. I grew up with summers filled with gallons of Red Rose sun tea (if we weren't drinking KoolAid or lemon water.) When Mom asked if someone wanted tea, she ment Red Rose.
In high school I learned to drink it unsweetened because I was tired of chemical sweeteners and even back then sugar made my joints ache. I did learn to like it that way for a while. But even now when there are so very few sweet additives I can tollerate, my sweet tooth wins out. 😁 .
Even the Sleepytime was a "fancy" tea that we only occasionally had around. The only other tea we had at home growing up that I can recall is Peppermint. I was really sick (again) most likely with strep throat and Mom asked me if there was anything she could get me. All I wanted was peppermint tea. It is still my other favorite tea and what I want when I have a sore throat.
I guess I'm lucky that herbal teas are my favorite. Just as long as they don't have citric acid, oils, gluten, honey or pineapple in them they seem to be safe so far. Now just trying to find the ones without those ingredients is a challenge.
I miss my peach tea. Damn cheap citric acid from corn. 😑
While 8 years hasn’t changed @mrsalikatz ANY, I sure look different. #swiperight When people ask my why I love pageants, I feel like I should introduce you to #littlerebekah who was covered in severe #eczema and struggled with unbelievable #foodallergies . I didn’t sleep well. I didn’t thrive. I was so little for my age. And I was extremely shy! Pageants gave me the confidence to do so many things I was scared of us a little girl. Now I stand proud and confident. #mao#thesisterhoodisreal#pageantry#iamme
Traveling with an autoimmune disease is honestly very hard. You have to eat out every day, but can’t eat 95% of every menu you come across. Also, you never really know how each restaurant preps their food. Cross contamination in the kitchen happens a lot. Its hard to stay safe, but it’s definitely possible to be safe and have a good time. Here’s 3 tips to keep you safe while traveling with an autoimmune disease.
Tip 1️⃣Always plan ahead. Plan every place you’re going to eat and even call ahead of time to ask about their menu.
Tip 2️⃣Find a local juice spot or health food store for fruit. I juice every day, so this is a must!
Tip 3️⃣ Let your server know that you have food allergies. This bring boundaries to your experience and gives you peace of mind that you will leave the restaurant without feeling sick.....well, let’s hope so. :)

It’s the summer of cooking and getting my stomach, mind, and body back on track. Made this variation of @fit_fab_fodmap lemon basil crab pasta recipe. I did some gluten free pasta, fresh lemon juice, garlic infused olive oil, @traderjoes canned crab meat, tomato, shaved parmesan, and basil. Soooo yummy and fresh! 🍝🍅🦀🍃
