It’s been two months since I’ve been able to practice flute... After a weird throat infection off and on since April, I finally had a tonsillectomy. I’m feeling much better now, but I never want to practice more than when I’m not physically allowed to 🙄 But hey, at least I’ve been able to watch endless amounts of tv and work on compositions everyday
Day 89 of #100daysofpractice : getting organized for October’s auditions and prioritizing my excerpts - this is the only way I can handle more than one audition at a time, let alone more than one huge audition. The A list consists of excerpts that are very familiar to me, while the B list needs a little more attention and the C list needs a lot of work. Try it sometime, I swear it helps!
Day 8 of #100daysofpractice : more Peter and the Wolf. The hardest part for me is the septuplet arpeggios, so Walfrid Kujala suggests practicing them like this in his orchestral techniques book. I’ve found it helpful so far! The last arpeggio I keep wanting to add a G between the F-Ab, so still working it out. Happy Sunday 🌻
In my audition warmup room, I was listening to my neighbor play beautifully. Their Prokofiev was brilliant, and their Brahms was soulful, romantic, and intimate. I fell in love with orchestral excerpts that day. After so many tries, it was also the day I finally got “lucky”...
Rusty excerpts are the perfect way to start this Sunday 😅 one of my summer goals is to really perfect this passage, since it gave me so much grief during the audition season. Send positive thoughts pls #flute#flutist#flutemusic#classicalmusic#orchestra
