More than 100 people are thought to have died in devastating monsoon floods in India's southern state of Kerala, the worst in almost a century.
Rescuers battled torrential rains to save residents, with nearly 150,000 reportedly left homeless.
The state government said many of those who died were crushed under debris caused by landslides.
With more rains predicted and a red alert in place, the main airport has reportedly been shut until 26 August.
A state official told AFP that 106 people had now died, while the Economic Times in India reports 114 have been killed .
Hundreds of troops have been deployed to rescue those caught up in the flooding, alongside helicopters and lifeboats.
The government has urged people not to ignore evacuation orders. It is distributing food to tens of thousands who have fled to higher ground.
We're witnessing something that has never happened before in the history of Kerala," Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan told reporters.

“Ever wonder why decorated Sugar Cookies cost so much? This video is actual time of flooding a SINGLE cookie. This doesn’t include shopping, prep work, making the batter, cutting the cookies, baking, dishes, clean up, mixing icing, making colors, different icing consistency, outlying, flooding, airbrushing/detail work ( not to mention all the time to dry in between layers), bagging the iced cookies, packaging, and more. These babies are no small task but so tasty and fun to make!! “

The 16th of August is the anniversary of the devastating flooding that hit Boscastle and the neighbouring village of Crackington Haven in 2004. Our Gig Club was formed in the aftermath of the event and it's easy to forget in the tranquil and pretty harbour now just how much devastation was caused. Over the years since both villages have recovered and thrived, but 16th of August is an unforgettable date.
Architect Pedro Geraldes designed the control and observation facility for global energy company EDP, overlooking the Vouga River near the village of Ermida, Portugal. The building's main purpose is to provide a base for checking the dam and implementing the necessary procedures in case of emergency, so it needed to be protected from flooding and command good views of the river.
“Mold is part 2 of flooding. Damp basements are potential breeding grounds for mold. If basements are not dried out, mold can begin growing in 72 hours.” – Lisa Lavender, COO of BFW said in a recent Reading Eagle interview. Check out the full story by visiting the link in our bio!

When nothing's left.
Take a moment to read this.
The beautiful state of #Kerala has always been kind to me. The people, the sights and the food (even though I'm vegetarian the people there have always made sure I've been well fed). I made this image on one of my many trips there, came back with so many incredible memories. Today the state and it's people are going through a very testing time. Unprecedented rains has caused severe flooding in many areas, displacing families, cutting their access to the most basic of necessities and bringing life as they know it to a stand still. Nothing can make up for their loss but I'm sure our support in whatever capacity will help them cope with this disaster a little better. I've put a link with all information in my bio and will continue to put up stories and archive them. Please share them with as many people as you can, every little bit will make a big difference. #keralafloods . ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖❌➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖

Gov. Tom Wolf visited New Albany, Bradford County, Pennsylvania Wednesday, August 15, 2018, along with PEMA Director Rick Flinn to inspect damage within the borough caused by flash flooding Tuesday, August 14. Part of that damage included the loss of the borough's small library, which washed into Route 220. The library building was two stories, with the bottom part collapsing and washing away into the street and into yards and the stream. A family was living in the apartment above the library when the building collapsed and was barely able to escape before the building was washed away. The already poor area was devastated by the damage caused by the flooding and more rain is expected to hit the area Thursday and Friday. Also on the tour Wednesday was local State Rep. Tina Pickett and Bradford County Commissioners Ed Bustin and Daryl Miller. #pennsylvaniagovernor#freelancephotographer#newspaper#morningtimes#bradfordcountycommissioners
