So I’ve never bought @beyondyoga leggings before and I’m in LOVE 💖! When I first received them from @carbon38 I was like these look miniscule and will never fit me. I had visions of that video going round facebook of the lady trying to squeeze into the small @spanx ! 🤣
Needless to say, the fit perfectly, and not only do the squeeze all the flabby bits and muffin top in but they passed a full classical pilates class of rollups, rollovers, teasers, and open leg rockers without budging! In fact I swear these pants are magical 🌟🦄 as I was able to manage a full open leg rocker, which is something I have NEVER 🙅🏼♀️ been able to do.

Function Friday - We are expanding on last week’s #sittostandchallenge . This time, doing a stand to sit to stand without crossing your legs. The first clip is my sister (and yet another 🐈) who can do the challenge, and the second is me demonstrating how to lead up to doing it if you can’t get up from the floor fully! I am going to keep practicing until I can get up without a block and will report back to you when I can. Again, if getting up and down off a yoga block is too far out of reach yet, use a small stool or similar. Basically start lowering ‘normal’ chair height and you’ll stair building in the strength in your legs and pelvis required.

Flexibility Friday! 😄 This is a photo from much earlier in the year when I was training more consistently. Hopefully I'm on track to getting that routine back.
The bend is deep but the form isn't great. I'm hoping that I can get to this depth again but by using my upper back a lot more without loading my lower back so much!

Open mind, soft heart 💓 Heading into the weekend with a huge smile on my dial thanks to @ashleyeasteal and the @westsideyogaschool crew after a lovely Friday morning class - thank you Ash ❤️ contrary to popular belief, as a yoga teacher I don’t actually spend every day in a state of blissed out relaxation and mindfulness with 2-3 hour practices every day. Like it says in my bio I really am about the hustle life. At the moment I’m a full time production manager getting chewed out on the daily for what is and isn’t on the artist rider, a self-doubting musician who is about to present a debut jazz gig next week, and a person who got up at 5am yesterday (and every day) to clean the house, meal prep, and workout so I can beat anxiety and stay on top of my shit. We all have our stuff. What helped me this week was @osher_gunsberg’s reframing technique of ‘I get to’ rather than ‘I have to’. I GET to do all this stuff, work on awesome concerts in a city with a thriving music scene, learn about yoga, experience a healthy body and joyful mind. And that, my friends, is a pretty big win. Happy weekend all! 💕
Move Better: Improve Your Motor Control -Part 1
Good news, movement and motor control can be improved; it’s train-able. Being able to control your body using strength and flexibility is the name of the game -you can build accordingly.
Good motor control enables us to manipulate our joints, limbs with actions that create (desired) movement patterns. EG: I’m using this technique in backflip movements or cartwheel motion.
Why not explore new stimulus and body awareness? Train your body to handle body movement, build body strength to control yourself using fresh range of motion with control, ease and grace.
