Didn’t get any of the beginning of this process as far as wood processing and assembly, but I got the good stuff. Fire. These were originally 16’ tongue and groove pine planks that have been on the wall in my dads barn for over 30 years. The frame of the wall is aged red oak, and the whole wall will be finished with Tung oil before it’s all said and done. #woodworking#flametreated#dartboardwall
Here's the result of the picture from yesterday. Single cigar tubes made from kits by @bereahardwoods ! This one is purpleheart and shou sugi ban ash. It took a little experimenting to get the shou sugi ban on only the ash, since it is glued directly to the purpleheart. I ended up turning the ash down to the correct dimensions and leaving the purpleheart about 1/16"-1/8" proud, burning the ash, and then turning down the purpleheart to size. It didn't work perfectly, since the purpleheart still burned a bit at the edge, but it did work decently well I think.
