For a long time, my local supermarket stopped selling these small chickenwings, which I really love. As soon as I spotted them again, I had to have 'm. They are already marinated in some paprika and salt, but it's not a big flavour, so they're easy to adjust to your own taste. Chinese five-spice for example...
Give the chicken wings a good rub with the five-spice and black pepper. Make sure the oil in the pan in nice and hot. Fry them skin side first and turn them over as soon as they get a nice colour. Add the chilli, garlic and ginger. When everything has a nice golden brown edge, add the bell pepper and zucchini until they are cooked. Add a splash of soy sauce and a tablespoon of honey, together with a good amount of Hoisin sauce. As always you can add some cornstarch if your sauce ends up too runny.
Lovely as a party snack or with a hot bowl of perfume rice ❤
Handmade Peanut noodles. Inspired by my favorite noodle shop in Philadelphia Chinatown where I’d always get their hand-drawn noodle in peanut sauce. I made an organic sprouted whole wheat version of a Mee Pok ( miàn báo ), tossed in a peanut and sesame sauce, with sous vide and wok-charred 5 spice ( wǔ xiāng ) pork tenderloin in a spicy dashi tomato sauce with blistered cherry tomato and arugula. I also made a version of a Lo Mein ( lāo miàn ) for the peanut sauce for those who prefer a thinner shape. #noodles#oodlesofnoodles#spiceisnice#doubleextrasauce#livetoeat#asianfusion#chinesefood#fivespice
Dish of the week? Five Spice Noodle 💥
Five-spice blend (fennel, cinnamon, star anise, peppercorns and clove) provides a flavor that can be described as warm, almost spicy, due to the tingling effects of the peppercorns and also delivers a cooling, nearly sweet, effect due to the clove flavor. Plus, each of the ingredients in five-spice powder comes with its own set of health benefits: 🔸Cinnamon is known to have antioxidant and anti-diabetic properties and is also an antiseptic and anti-inflammatory agent
🔸peppercorns provide a boost to your digestion by increasing the secretion of gastro intestinal juices and enzymes.
🔸Star anis improves the function of the immune system.
🔸Fennel seeds are a rich source of antioxidants like quercetin and of dietary fiber as well
🔸Cloves are known to provide antioxidant, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory benefits.

I love a seared chicken thigh. This one is rubbed with five-spice powder and served with some lemony quinoa-spinach-cucumber business. Link from Oct @familycirclemag in bio. 📷: @johnny_miller_ Styling: @maggie_ruggiero. Props: @christinalane1.

Celupkan daging ayam ke dalam kocokan telur. Lapisi dgn bahan pelapis. Celupkan lagi ke dalam kocokan telur, kemudian lapisi dgn bahan pelapis.

Visiting my other sister in the UK right now and learning some new recipes! Check out those pork belly layers...
Chinese roast pork was always lovingly prepared by my mom when we came home for breaks. Seasoned with five spice powder, pepper and salt. Most important thing is to dry out the meat before cooking to get good crackling! We left it out on the counter for several hours before cooking (3rd picture, cool weather here). Then bake for 20 mins at 180°C, then for another hour at 160°C. We finished it under the grill to make the crackling!
Pro-tip from my mom: if you make too much, which is likely because it's hard work, slice off pieces from the edges first and keep the parts in the middle as they will remain moist. Then reheat in oven.
Dear loyal customers, it has been an incredible journey so far and we thank you all for your continued custom and ever presence at #fivespice . Reaching 200 5-bubble reviews means so much to us. Thank you all, there is only one way we can celebrate such a milestone.....(keep an eye out!)
Autumn vibes 🍂 and my favorite pumpkin soup for the soul 🎃
Easy to make. Delicious and nutritous😉
Enjoy my recipe 🍜
•medium pumpkin •homemade coconut milk (check my “Coconut stories “ for the recipe) or any unsweetened coconut milk
•coconut oil 1 tbsp
•”five spices “ (pumpkin spice - mixture of ground cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, allspice and cloves)
•fresh ginger (3 slices)
•fresh chilly 1 tsp
•chilly flakes 1/2 tsp
1. Cut a pumpkin ,scoop out all the seeds, which you can roast as a snack. Unlike some other types of squash, pumpkins have thick skin, which is best removed from the flesh after roasting.
2. Put pumpkin into preheated oven (200* Celsius) and bake until soft.
3. Remove the skin and put flesh part into a preheated soup pan with coconut oil.
4. Add about 700-1 L of coconut milk. Add 1 tsp of five spices, salt, pepper chilly flakes, fresh chilly and ginger.
5. Cook for about 10-15 minutes
6. Remove ginger and puree the soup using a food processor or blender.
7. Enjoy 😉 •
