OMG I hope not!! In less than two months I’ll be 58 years old. I can’t believe it! Life passes so quickly! I’ve set a lot of goals in my life time...I’ve hit some & others I’ve fallen short. But I’ve never stopped growing...reaching for more.

As you may know I’m relatively new as a health & fitness coach. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do but it never seemed to be the right time. I’ve worked in the corporate world for many years so between working, raising a family & life...I never felt I had the time. .

When it comes to food though, you can make this VERY simple by thinking about calorie density.

Of course there’s a few exceptions, like avocados, but most foods that are both big but lower in calories tend to be high in water, fiber and/or protein.

What’s the lowest calorie dense substance you can put in your body?

Water. And a lot of the times you feel hungry, you’re just dehydrated.

But as this image shows, consider your choices vs the choices here.

This isn’t about healthy vs unhealthy, it’s about calorie density.

When it comes to food and staying full, VOLUME matters more than calories.

So when you have the apple instead of the muffin, you save about 320 calories for the same amount of satisfaction for your stomach.

When you choose mixed nuts as a protein source instead of a chicken breast — even though you should know nuts don’t have much protein — you give up a ton of protein, which is filling, and you add calories.

One of the most difficult things about getting older is how Mother Nature wants to kick our ass. -
There are so many things that we go through during peri menopause and menopause, but the one thing I hear the most about, and what people are the most frustrated about, is belly fat.
-
It seems like belly fat has such a strong foot hold that no matter what you do it won’t go away. You feel like you have tried everything, and nothing works. -
I thought I had tried everything too, but what I eventually discovered was I hadn’t even scratched the surface. -
And while I wish I could have a magical series of exercises for you that will melt it all away, the reality is that’s not how it works. Doing 100 crunches every night, or holding a plank for 5 minutes  just isn’t going to do it.  So what will burn that fat away?

The formula for burning belly fat is the same for fat loss in general:
-
✅Set up your calorie deficit and stick to it. BW x 11-12 is a good place to start.
✅Eat lean protein and Veggies at every meal.  Aim for 20-30 grams of protein per meal.
✅Strength Train 3-4x per week with big compound movements and a sprinkling of accessory movements. Want definition? Keep the cals in check, and build lean muscle.
✅Consistency not perfection - Stay consistent over time with calories and workouts.  Consistency wins out 100% of the time.
✅Be Patient - This is the hardest one.  Fat loss takes time. It can be frustrating.  Even when you feel like you aren’t making progress, don’t quit.  Keep going, -
And if you love cardio, add it in!  Cardio is not the focus, but is a great addition to your strength training .

I have been lifting a lot. I have been growing my legs and tushie❣️ I am getting a lot stronger but I’m also getting a lot thicker. I am not completely comfortable with the thickness, but I’m seeing it as a necessary stage. Maybe in a little while I should learn how to shed some layers of fat. Happy Monday! I’m loving this Cranberry smoothie bowl! I still haven’t been able to find decent nectarines so subbing with 1/2 a navel orange! It’s so good! 🍊😋 Today’s workout was Cardio Flow #yoga with @karenadawn them Long + Limber yoga. I finally have  MRI for my hip scheduled on Thursday. But thankfully, the pain hasn’t been as bad for a few days. I’ve been doing different stretches and exercises and I think it’s helped. Have a great weekend everyone!

Turns out it holds a curl much better the next morning with this method. It will loosen up over the course of the day, but still looks good enough to head out after work with nothing more than a fresh toss with a bit of hairspray. .
