- The pain is usually felt deeply

- The pain is referred distally within the dermatome. Example: Pain in the distal aspect of the L3 dermatome (knee and lower limb) can have a proximal origin (spine, hip), but pain only in the hip or the groin, cannot be caused by a lesion at the knee or the thigh
.
- The pain does not necessarily cover the area of the causative lesion
.
- The pain is felt anywhere in the dermatome but not necessarily in the whole dermatome

Since I started really planning out my push/pull/legs split I鈥檝e definitely noticed a difference in my efficiency in the gym (and progress). Preparation and planning really makes going to the gym and nutrition simpler and less stressful. Something i鈥檓 figuring out more and more every day.

It鈥檚 common knowledge we all need to drink 鈥渆nough鈥 water. Being dehydrated makes you feel crappy, causes health issues, and for athletes it can majorly impact game performance. This probably isn鈥檛 news for anyone, but what if I told you without being sufficiently hydrated, you won鈥檛 burn fat or build muscle? Even for the average Joe! Water is anabolic (aka growth aka a good thing), and is literally the MOST important molecule for building muscle and burning fat. It is the foundation of all things we ingest (which isn鈥檛 a surprise since we are 2/3rd鈥檚 water). So how can we expect to reach our full fitness goals, or any goals at all without sufficient water consumption?!

Well now the question is how much do we consume? This isn鈥檛 a simple question to answer, because there are a bunch of variables like: Age, gender, height, weight, activity level, type of activities, genetics, how much you sweat, what other drinks you consume, your sodium intake, etc... So unfortunately there鈥檚 no clear cut answer. That said, the common advice for the average person is to go by the 8x8 rule. 8, 8 ounce glasses of water, for 64 total ounces per day. I would challenge this advice and say most of us need more, especially if we want to be as healthy as possible, build muscle, and/or lose fat. After researching a bunch and looking at what has worked for me, you should cut your body weight in half and that鈥檚 about how many ounces you need per day at the minimum! So for me I weigh about 220 lbs, I need at least 110 Oz of water per day馃毎... One other thing to remember is the color of your pee, and if it鈥檚 yellow AT ALL, you need to have more water. Clear is the goal. 鈥斺斺斺斺
This may sound like a lot to have in a day at first, but I advise spreading it out and once it becomes habit, it鈥檒l become effortless. Cheers to drinking more water! 馃挦

Would you try broccoli + cereal?? WEIRD! I wouldn鈥檛 have thought to combine the two...but I did it anyways 馃し馃徏鈥嶁檧锔 How many of us like weird combinations? 鈥⑩⑩
I feel a lot of times in life people shy away from 鈥渙dd combinations.鈥 Whether it鈥檚 grits + maple syrup, punk rock + tiaras, or bi-racial couples...there will always be opinions. You might even find that you have an opinion you don鈥檛 necessarily want but were raised to think that way, or just developed the thought as a kid. The good news is: you鈥檙e not stuck thinking that! We always have the power to change our opinions into something that鈥檚 in line with our values and what we actually WANT to think. So maybe try taking a step outside your comfort zone and see where it takes you!! I can guarantee that, if anything, you will learn something. 鈥⑩⑩
And yes, I tried cereal + broccoli. I threw some melon, mixed nuts, a little lemon dressing in there...and it was great! Just like you don鈥檛 HAVE to follow certain social constructs, breakfast foods don鈥檛 HAVE to be breakfast foods.

Not a glamour shot here, but it is a very real one!! Our real lives, our actual lives experiences, RARELY coincide with what we see on Instagram. This is me, the real me. The me that spent the last hour and a half sweating my tits off doing a full body weight training session. The me that didn鈥檛 have time to put on makeup in the morning. The me that ate an entire Vego (re: vegan Nutella) bar for lunch because I forgot my pre-made one at home. It isn鈥檛 pretty, it isn鈥檛 a great pose of the new muscles I鈥檝e been curating, but it is the me that still made it to the gym, and managed to smash my workout. Keep staying strong on this fitness journey my friends, and let yourself enjoy the process.
