Overcoming the fear of being judged:

You would think for someone whose favorite class in high school was Drama and whose hobby is prancing around a stage in a sparkling bikini,  I would have overcome the fear of peoples opinions long ago.

I finally took the long awaited plunge and posted my workout from tonight to my story- it’s something I’ve wanted to get into the habit of doing for a long time, but was so scared what others would say or think. 
_
But then I remembered how much I love the videos posted by the various fitness accounts I follow, how they inspire me and give me new ideas to try in the gym- and that’s what I want to be for those who follow me.

I mean...I do have “fit” in my Instagram handle after all, lol.

It took me a good 5 minutes to put my pants on this morning, but I got a hell of a workout in once I made it to the gym! LOL 🤣

It sucks being in pain. My piriformis muscle has been causing me grief for the past couple of months. I'm not sure what caused it or why it's not getting better, but I'm SOOOOOOO ready to kick it to the curb. 
I've been missing out on lifting on leg days because I don't want to aggravate it. Which is why my new fave is training upper body. I still manage to squeeze in some lower body body weight pilates and light weight lifting to keep myself proportionate, but it's nowhere near what I used to do. Just gotta adapt and modify. Nothing more I can do until this pain in the ass goes away!

Also, just like any other muscle, you need to progressively overload them to see an increase in size. Regardless, it is important to train them because having a strong core (which includes your abdominal muscles as well as some back muscles) helps with having stronger lifts or just every day life preventing injury!👊🏻

They say you grow the most outside of your comfort zone..so here I am. Doing standing barbell presses for the first time ever (usually do them sitting). Mannn these were harder than I thought they were going to be - which probably means they work so try em! ;) #campjansen

It's  not about doing it all this season, but about doing what is meaningful. I need to be intentional with my time. If it doesn't serve me, what is the point? Time is precious, and I need to recognize the value of mine. Intentional, that's my word this season!

I’ve been struggling to get my groove back and prioritize working out again, so I switched up my workouts.  My mind has gotten really good at talking myself out of working out.  So tonight, I tried my first PWR workout, week 1 chest and tris.  It was awesome!! I’m definitely ready to get more into lifting and try something new!  And the fact that I chose arms first shows just how far I’ve come...I used to HATE arm day and would give anything to skip it!  But if there’s one thing i learned in the almost 3 years of doing bbg, it’s that change will come with consistent focus and hard work!  Where my #PWR ladies at? • ⠀⠀⠀

I had a plan... but it didn’t go my way. I was going to do cardio and then my #tiudailymoves but after cardio I was so done that I couldn’t!!! Next time I think I’ll start with daily moves then move to cardio. • 
Lots of positives here though! I watched an episode of #nailedit. It was entertaining. And I did mini intervals! It was so hard! But it was awesome. And I listened to my body when it told me that my form would suck beyond belief if I did the daily moves. It’s so important to listen to your body.

I tried some actual dead hanging #hangingkneeraises from the #assistedpullups machine tonight for the first time. It felt pretty awkward but I guess I did 3 sets of 5 horrible ones for my first go at it. At least that’s what I’ll call it! Can’t never could right!? I felt like I couldn’t keep my grip even with my #weightliftinggloves on but I’ll keep working at it. Studying for tomorrow's exam.Thak God it's over after that. I can say I'm exhausted and frustrated right now. I just worked all day and now I have to attemp to stuff down this knowledge. I'm really tired. My back hurts like hell. I'm hungry and I still have more work to do for my job.  I zoned out on a call today. Not making progress with your training?

It’s frustrating.

It wasn’t until I started taking my training very seriously that I figured out what I was doing wrong.

👉 GET OUT OF ASSESSMENT MODE. It’s cool to check out your pump. And I’m all for taking post-workout selfies. But for the love of the gain gods, stop 🛑 Cover yourself if you need to. Progress doesn’t happen with each set. Within ten minutes of being in the gym, I saw TWO guys lifting up their shirts to check their abs 🤦‍♀️

👉 DECREASE YOUR REST BREAKS. Unless you’re doing sets of 1-3, your rest breaks should not be 5 minutes. It’s okay if you don’t feel entirely “rested” before you start your next set. Your mind is weaker than your body, I promise.
.
👉 TAKE YOUR LAST SET TO FAILURE. This is a great indicator of whether or not your working sets were enough weight. If you did working sets of 10 with 20 pounds and you were able to do 20 reps with your set to failure.. were your working sets even working sets? 🤔 In other words, work harder than you think you are.
.
👉 HAVE A PROGRESSIVE PROGRAM. You don’t ALWAYS have to do the same thing. But you should have a few of the same compound movements that you are constantly increasing volume (either reps or weight)

Also helps build a strong looking physique & helps build your upper body strength. Personally shoulders is one of my favorite days and I train them twice a week. 
1️⃣ Start by warming up doing cable front raises. 
2️⃣SHOULDER PRESS: helps build size and density with increasing weight.
3️⃣Dumbbell front raises builds the anterior part of your deltoids. 
4️⃣Lateral raises

One of my fears is to live a life that’s not for me, to do things in order to just make others happy, nor will i settle for a mediocre life.  I want to push myself to its limits physically, and mentally. .

Be the best person I can be, in every aspect. This year I have big,big physical, and financial goals.  I also want to continue to help even more ladies this hear feel more confident in their own skin, and maybe help them build a side business. Lately I’ve been looking less at myself in the mirror and focusing on every detail of my body. To be honest, having more curves is difficult for me most days. Seeing myself not as lean is HARD. But letting my health get back on track is much more important to me right now. Right now I’m focusing on building more size and hitting prs on my lifts. Which means more food, less cardio and keeping training intensity high while focusing on progressive overload.

During the improvement season for competitors, this IS where we build our physiques that we show on stage. This is the time to take advantage of the extra calories and really grind and push the weight.

I know as long as I am in my improvement season, the scale ain’t going down!! So today the scale may be up a couple pounds, but so is my strength.
. 
During this time of the year, I always try to remind myself that my self worth is not relative to what I look like and it’s certainly not the most important thing about me.
.
Sometimes I need to remind myself to give myself some credit. Stop being so hard on myself. Stop over analyzing my “flaws”. Yes, sometimes my physical appearance is a big part of what I do in life such as competing and modeling. But it doesn’t define who I am...I’m also a coach, daughter, sister, friend. And I don’t think those roles have to do with me having abs or not you know what I’m sayin!? 🤷🏼‍♀️

Today was not a good snatch day… But then I found some old videos of me from about 4.5 years ago and was reminded of how much progress I’ve truly made since starting CrossFit. Current Training Structure: Twice daily.
