Edinburgh Chronicles Day 14 (Part 1)
The Nightmare in Newington continues, got pulled again last night, taking the tally of cancelled gigs up to 6. I’m hoping to set the record for most pulled gigs during the Fringe Festival. I’m not sure what the record is, but, I’d like to think I am in the running. I’ll keep her lit, because whatever I am doing out in The Mockingbird is a sure fire way to set the sad records. At least I’ll be in the Guinness Book, because Guinness has been what’s getting me through the realities of the Isle of Sarcasm.
The city was tired yesterday. The weather was damp and dreary. I was exhausted. There wasn’t a hope of a gig on the Isle of Sarcasm. I walked out to The Mockingbird and the place was a ghost town. Not a sinner in sight. The streets outside were barren. Even the shop next door closed. The owner Kenny called into The Mockingbird for a swift one before heading off saying that he’d been dead all day.
Was over to Fireside for The Stand-Up Power Hour, got the bodies in today. Enjoyed one of the delicious buffalo burgers that they make down there, was delicious, just what the body needed. The lads sets were strong and the day went ahead nicely. It was Padraig Williams last day at the Fringe and he closed the show in style. He’s come a long way since he came to Edinburgh. Delighted for him.
Took it handy tonight. After sitting in the empty room on the Isle of Sarcasm for wee while, I decided to head back to the diggs and take an easy night. I’ve been on a non-stop rhythm since landing and a night of rest was necessary. I’ve 2-gigs on the books thus far for today. I’ve the Stand-Up Power hour at 18:15. Then Unhinged in The Mockingbird at 21:00. I’m hoping to pack both the places out and get em laughing. Here we go!

Edinburgh Chronicles Day 12 (Part 2)
Got a reasonable crowd in last night. Had a crowd of 6, all locals from the area. The flyering of the local cafe’s and shops seemingly paid off last night. Though all the posters I’d put up have all been ripped down now at this stage. The graft to get people out to the Isle of Sarcasm has only grown tougher as the Fringe grows older. The rhythms that I’d hope to build out in Newington have been washed away with yet another wave.
My show Unhinged has grown considerable since arriving in Edinburgh. On Thursday night I cut the my show down to 43-minutes. Last night I cut the show down to 38-minutes. Even with only 6-people in the audience, I made £25 in the bucket, so that speaks to the fact that audiences are connecting with what I have to say and finding the laughter that I am providing worthy of their time. Happy days.
The Stand-Up Power Hour in Fireside was jam packed today. I’ve found a good rhythm with that gig. Foot fall makes all the difference, as I am out in the streets early flyering and have been packing them in since I started running the gig on Thursday. Yesterday the gig was at capacity. The place was rammed and the show was a flyer. A big thank you to the lads for giving me a shot by letting me run the gig, I’m at least learning what it’s like to run a proper gig in town, and seeing that hard work has a chance to pay off in Edinburgh, when a person isn’t put so far out of the city.
Had the pleasure of playing in Matt Watson’s compilation show, the place was jammed as well. Full capacity. Was a pleasure heading in and letting her fly to what was a gorgeous, old-style, brick-layed basement room. Cheers for having me in Matt.
We love when we get to do design work with our friends @bed.threads and these little beauty’s are about to come out. We got a sneak peek when creating the labels and can confirm they smell ridiculously amazing!

I’ll be honest I wanted to be lazy tonight and stay home but Im so glad I didn’t because We had a wonderfully uplifting night at the back to school fireside this evening..such great talks about how commandments are given to help protect us, being a missionary and being willing to teach others about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the peace it can bring to your life, feeling the spirit of the Holy Ghost daily, and putting on the armor of God to protect us from the pulls of the adversary.. I know they’re teenagers and it’s hard to sit and listen for an hour and a half but hopefully some of it soaked in through osmosis😂.. as a mom I hope my kids realize that their Heavenly Father loves them so much and wants nothing more to help them succeed and live with Him again.. and he has given them the tools to make it all possible.. stay close to the Lord and follow the guidance of the spirit.. it just makes life so much better..even during the hard trials..tonight there was a song sung (by some amazingly beautiful voices)that said something like “When there’s no peace on Earth, there is peace in Christ”....absolutely❤️ #thechurchofjesuschristoflaterdaysaints#armorofgod#missionary#feelthespirit#fireside#followellsgosouth
