It’s time to trim back your lavender! Once the pollinators have sufficiently enjoyed your blooms, trim back your plants by about 1/3. This helps promote new growth and often times you’ll even get a second bloom before heading into Fall and winter. Plus then you can dry the lavender to use in arrangements, baked goods, and herbs de Provence. Do you grow lavender? What are your best tips?
Really enjoyed being a keynote presenter at the annual @nantucketgardenfestival today!! Such a beautiful place, an energetic group of students, and really lovely hosts! Through the course of the full day of teaching, I made some very textural and summery demo pieces. Now, what should I do with my remaining few hours on the island?? ✨✨
I need to know: Is this flower too plain? It’s called rudbeckia Sahara, and it’s an updated version of our wild rudbeckia that you see all over the roadsides, more commonly known as Black Eyed Susans. Sahara is obviously supposed to be more brown than its native cousin. What do you think? Is it cool, or should I focus on fancier flowers?
While I post photos of beautiful gardens and impeccably maintained containers - these girls are the ones making it happen. They work their butts off and genuinely care about the work they’re doing - the gardens reflect it. Happy gardeners make happy gardens 🌸 Thank you, thank you, thank you 🙏🏻💜 @bilylagz @lenapgil @alinka_1224 @ernstlanddesign #greyladygardens#ernstlanddesign#nantucket#nantucketgardens#finegardening
