Last night I had my first modern molecular gastronomy experience. Their Looking Glass Virtual Reality Experience at Taste of Melbourne 2016 first caught my attention, I was fairly impressed by the restaurant’s willingness to undertake such an innovative concept. Never imagined I’d be celebrating my birthday here 2 years later 🎂🙏🏼.
We had ‘AN INDICATION’ ($140) which came with 7 courses of taste bud exploding experience. Each course has its unique mix of many different ingredients, stellar presentation and elegant platings ✨
Some of the highlights were the DARWINIAN EGG, you can eat the flakey egg shell too. It has a wonderfully smooth, creamy texture and a strong after taste😋 SMOKED EEL BUTTER got a great smoky flavor, and it got better when paired with a artichoke sourdough and sour corn honey 🍞🍯. THE AGED DUCK 🐤 was phenomenal, it had a medium firm texture, inside was juicy and tender. We finished off with the uncommon OLIVE OIL AND MANDARIN PEEL ICE CREAM 🍦 I did not know Ice cream can have a eclectic palate, sometimes it tasted like a mouthful of freshly cut grass in a good way.
The whole experience lasted for 3 hours and half, not fully happy about the service here, def has room for improvement. Overall I have thoroughly enjoyed my evening, It’s truly a memorable and unique culinary journey, unlike anything I have ever eaten before 🍴🌟.
