Always good to come back to a job and see it almost finished. Installed this kitchen a few weeks ago and returned today to install the island benchtop and floating shelves! Cabinets and Design by Garsden & Clarke. #jensendesigns
Another project designed by @davidheidedesignstudio with millwork and cabinetry provided by @frost_cabinets. Again the wood species is Red Birch. It's a period "prairie style" home and this is one of the woods used during that era. The color, depth, and clarity are all important here. As is capturing the vintage patina. When I design a finish concept the color is just one of the many attributes that I consider. While it is very important in the overall scheme. The number one goal is celebrating and revealing the wood species. That is not the common path. Uncommon and extraordinary are my path....
Been installing this incredible house on Cleavland Point. Honestly has to be biggest house I've fit out to date. Complete with floating kitchen and BBQ. Can't wait to see this house finished! Cabinets and Design by Garsden & Clarke. #jensendesigns
This weekend we were inspired by the built to scale Downton Abbey Kitchen at the @downtonabbey_official exhibit which has found its home at @cityplace through February. We definitely suggest a visit if you are a fan of the show or historical England! Now if only we had a cup of Mrs. Patmore’s pudding tea ☕️
Finishing is starting again. Revel in the moment; look forward to the next one. Beyond the accomplishment of today there is the field of tomorrow, and the next one, and the next one.
Your stamp is on whatever you do; make it a fine one. If the next moment will be our last, let it be one with no regrets ❤️
More progress on the bedsides from recycled piano parts for @pianosrecycled.
So much work for handles. Lol. I am my own worst enemy lol.
Housings machined for the Ebony keys. The front of the Ebony keys ( curved section) will have a notch out at the bottom. This will cover the curved section of the housing in the arrow pieces. This will mean the internal distance points between the arrow pieces
Will be shorter compared to the photos. 30mm to be exact in finished distance.
I have to adjust the narrow ends of the tapers of the arrow pieces (top right, bottom left). This is due to the angle being slightly off on the arrow pieces. Since the angle is slightly off compared to one side to the other it means when flipped to be a left or right the pieces are not 100% central to one another. About 1.5mm off.
This can be due to one of the jigs being out or there could have been movement in the parts while machining etc. Not so much the current jig now since they are stuck down with double sided tape when machining. Most likely previous jigs.
Its not heavily noticeable but I notice it lol.
Lock pins are also in yosegi makers marks. Not shown in photos but the batch number stamp has been attached to one of the bedside table backs.
Still abit of work to do to the handles but getting there.

The Ebony gods have sent there blessings. Nahhhhhh just Mike and Sandra. 😊😊😊😊 Some of the Ebony keys for the bedside handles others for future piano recycled pieces.
My makers marks have been installed. Colourful Yosegi. A 4mm dia lock pin goes in tom. The 2 sets have different coloured yosegi makers marks. Ive put one on the backs of the bedsides and backs of drawer boxes.
Set 1 is American Beech, Wenge and Jarrah.
Set 2 is Babinga Rosewood, Hard Rock Maple and New Guinea Rosewood.
Everything is final sanded. I just need to finish off handles and instal piano batch number inlay into the back of one of the bedsides and machine handle mortises into the drawer fronts. Once thats all done I can start the oiling.
Ill just do a quick once over before I start the finishing process.
Also look out for triangular yosegi ear rings and pendants. They are coming. 😊😊😊 Stay tuned.
It has admittedly been a challenge to get back in the groove of things when I have a two week old baby girl I want to give all my attention, but the show must go on! These beaded face frame cabinets have been quite enjoyable to construct. However, traditional beaded face frame cabinets are definitely the most inefficient style to build. So simple yet so much detail!!#vidrinemade#beadedfaceframe#finecabinetry#shopprogress#thankful#happythanksgivng#abilenetx
Just a little zoom-in on a gorgeous Ogassian concrete tile from @annsacks - we paired it with walnut shelves in this living room built-in for a look that's 😍🔥 We love the big moments of design - impact on the the built urban environment, large scale landscapes, infrastructure - and, we love the small moments, like this one. Design - and craftsmanship - is everywhere. ❤️🛠️ @annsacks_boston
Finally had the time this afternoon to finish a personal project of mine! Floating super king bed frame, pretty happy with the outcome. This was version 3, safe to say it's been a slow process. #jensendesigns
This is one if my current projects. This is for @oldglobewood. The history of this structure is amazing. The lumber is 300+ year old furniture grade Eastern White Pine. This lumber is not available in the marketplace. You can't order it from your lumber company. It was 300+ years old when it was harvested 150 years ago. My role is to show the owners how color can add value. With flooring, wall pack (ship lap), and other end products. I will post some examples of how organic color can add to the rich history of this project. Creating another example of harvesting an earthly good and finishing it with another organic process and materials puts this product in rare space.
This is a picture of a project designed by @davidheidedesignstudio constructed by @dovetailrenovationinc with cabinetry fabricated by @frost_cabinets. I had the privilege to create the overall color palette for all the woodwork and wall surfaces. Plus develop the color and finish process for all the extraordinary wood surfaces. This was a historic property that over the years had been severely altered. The clients approached David Heide to restore the grandeur. Having the confidence of a great architect, designer and builder to produce at this level was very rewarding.
