Behind the lenses with Mark Webber 2/2 @markwebber_ [If you had a budget for your photography what would you do with it?] I would probably use it to buy film for my camera & gas for my car haha. All of my photos have been taken in Alberta, usually no further than a few hours away, so I’m long overdue for a road trip down to the states or something. So when I started leaving the city to go shoot in the country and around these small towns, it was a big realization for me. I began visiting my home town a lot, I’d go there at least a few times a week to shoot. I had finally found a way to express myself in a way that left me feeling fulfilled at the end of the day. Since then I’ve kinda become obsessed with exploring new areas, I could spend days searching for these gritty scenes to photograph. Unfortunately gas and film aren't very easy on the bank haha. [Neon lights, motel signs, reflections, vintage cars, new topographics..
Have they always been attracting you or you got into it after a while?] These things have always attracted me, and I mean who doesn’t love neon? haha. Reflections are a real treat when you find them. Shooting in harsh weather is probably my favourite thing to do, it completely changes the environment into something new. A typically boring scene can be transformed into something magical by a thunderstorm or a blizzard so I’ll often wait for a rainy day to shoot certain scenes. There were a few times I had my car stuck in the mud while driving in the country though, and that’s never a fun time.
