Rockin a new #fabletics outfit for my Monday morning workout 👊❤ We are moving/closing on our home sale in just a few weeks and then beginning the building process of our new home! Lifes sure to be busy for the rest of the year! That means it's even more important to make that time for myself and take care of myself!
Our minds are very much like a garden. Just as seeds grow, so do our thoughts. When we think of our thoughts as seeds and our rooted beliefs as established plants in our garden, the connection is easily made. If we do not properly water and care for our garden, newly sprouting seeds will die. The positive thoughts we planted will start to wilt when not tended to, and the thoughts that we do not want are left to grow wildly, just like weeds.
Taking care of your mental health is super important for everyone, not necessarily if you have a mental illness, because one can easily develop. Everyone can achieve greatness, the only thing stopping you is your mind and your thoughts.
I wasn't born with depression, I wasn't born with anxiety. Negative thoughts and outlooks gave me depression, depression led me to withdrawing from life and that gave me anxiety. .
I wasn't born with mental illness, life happened and I lost myself in my negative thoughts. I couldn't deal with life, I didn't know how.
Counselling saved my life, it put me in the right track to living a successful, fulfilling and happy life. I went from being depressed, lonely, overwhelmed, and secluded to how I am now. I'm motivated, I have so much more energy, I say yes more and make plans and I get shit done! 😀 Im finally free and it feels amazing.
Dear Stigma Against Counselling,
Sincerely, Marissa Lyne Boehm.
And thank you to the wonderful staff, counselors and therapists at Vancouver Coastal Health for giving me the chance to go to counselling and therapy for free. I wouldn't have been able to fight my battle against depression on my own. <3
Because tacos 🌮 are life!! It’s not easy always having to ask for a special menu, asking for modifications to a meal, or the thought of what if this makes me sick every time I eat somewhere. 😳 This has become my new normal and slowly I’m adjusting to all the changes that I must take in order for my body to function “normally” again. I just spent several weeks away from home and ate out more than I’m typically comfortable with. However, I was able to find a couple things that were accommodating in a small town. 🎉
But... I’ve been craving some baked chicken ( gluten free) tacos since being back home and my they were so good tonight! I also added in some gluten free chicken and cheese quesadillas for the kids. Like I said, tacos are life!! 🌮
Rest day before the big day!
The #spartanrace#palmertonsuper is TOMORROW, so a rest day and serious #stretching were in order this morning. Either yesterday's MMA match or Wednesday's slider workout have left my upper back and core VERY sore. When you push your body hard, you have GOT to help it recover, and stretching is a great way to do that. (Foam rolling, too; check the stories for a peek at that!) I'm loading up on good stuff for my muscles today so that they're hopefully ready to tackle the mountain tomorrow!
Bring it on! #AROO !
It is the best kind of power there is.
I run like a girl.
I hit like a girl.
I boss like a girl and I’m damn proud of it!
Doing anything “like a girl” is cool and is nothing to be ashamed of because we’re freaking awesome!!We can run businesses and families all at the same time—we are some serious badasses!! Are you proud to be a girl?? I am and you should be, too!!
What a loss to the world it would be if we failed to tell our inner mean girl voice to just “shut the __ up, and take a back seat”, & take the driver’s seat for ourselves! .
Let the inner magnetic, energetic, phenomenal WOMAN out! .
Well ... what worked for me were the at-home workouts - turns out my inner, stronger voice was hidden under years of wine drinking “excess! Didn’t really expect it at the time, but the empty nesting get-togethers took a toll! - working my way back now & this new me is LOUD!!!!! .
Ever have one of those nights when just nothing is coming together? And before you know it: 💥It's 7:00 and the kiddo hasn't eaten (cue super fast hot dog, pea, and pineapple dinner)
💥Kiddo is exhausted from waking up early, go go going all day long, and she's melting down while you're trying to get her to change into pjs.
💥It's time for hubby to put kiddo to bed, and YOU haven't eaten yet.
💥Your head has been hurting all day long.
So what'd I have? Half a plateful of cauliflower tots with a side of mini apple turnover. Because Mama. Was. DONE!
Hey, at least the tots were some veggies, right? 🤷♀️

One step at a time.
It's been much harder to get myself back on track with workouts and healthy eating than I expected it to be. We are still very busy with the upcoming move and build so my focus just hasn't been on myself lately. But, today we went grocery shopping and planned some delicious and healthy meals for the week! Lean burgers & sweet corn, chicken with brown rice & green beans & sirloin steak with grilled baby potatoes 😋
I'm also prepping fresh fruit & veggies to go along with my #Shakeology , turkey, almonds & pepperjack cheese for lunches!! Finally I'm taking some time to plan out some workouts for this week too.
It may be slow, but I'm getting myself back on track! One step at a time! ✌❤
Nothing is so strong as gentleness, nothing so gentle as real strength.
#findyourinnerstrength is what the wall behind me says 💕
I love how yin practice invites us to be gentle with ourselves, strengthening through softness and surrender. It’s not always easy but it’s so worth it.
