A rare vantage point from the podium of the #NewYorkStockExchange where the opening and closing bell is wrung. It wasn’t always a bell, it was originally a gavel which is obviously still used. A gong was used before the #NYSE officially transitioned to a bell, which is now wrung by a push of a button. All of the computer kiosks you can see are actually suspended from the ceiling since the current trading room floor, completed in 1903, cannot sustain the wait of our modern electronics. Special thanks to @benhiderimages for the opportunity to stand here and take these pics. #wallstreet#financialdistrict#openingbell#closingbell#tickertape#buttonwoodagreement
