Spent the morning reading and rereading some of the essays in these classic tomes and had no idea that the editor of these great slices of weird reality and founder of Feral House publications had passed recently. R.I.P. Adam Parfrey. You will be missed. #feralhouse#apocalypseculture
Very sad to hear about the passing of Adam Parfrey, the publisher of Feral House. My first job in publishing, many moons ago, was with PGW, Feral House's distributor. The perk of the job was when Adam came to the office to present his latest titles. He introduced my young mind to a myriad of subcultures, dark histories, and outcasts. I had a blast selling his books to Virgin, Tower, and indie bookstores. Thank you Adam for sharing your unique world view with all of us. #feralhouse#adamparfrey#bookpublishing#indiepublishing @feral_house
R.I.P Adam Parfrey. Feral House put out some quality (very subjective) books that I loved. Some of it was crazy, some was disturbing and a lot of it was strange and quite weird but I loved it nonetheless. I once applied for a job to work there when they were still based in Portland back in the late 90’s. #feralhouse
I've just learned of the passing of publisher, editor, writer Adam Parfrey whose work with Amok and Feral House played such an influential part in a youthful initiatory journey, inspiring my desire to seek out alternative views and subversive philosophies that served to help me better understand and contend with the complexities of my world. Parfrey consistently published stimulating, provocative, and important books for over 30 years. He will be greatly missed. From my shelf. This is my still cherished, beaten, tattered, first edition of the controversial, pioneering work Apocalypse Culture. #adamparfrey#feralhouse#amokbooks
We are shocked and saddened by the untimely death of #AdamParfrey , #FeralHouse publisher, editor and author. The influence of his seminal book #ApocalypseCulture on our own work over the years cannot be overestimated, and many a FH volume sits on our #bookshelf .

#RepostSave @mitchell_boone13 with @repostsaveapp ・・・ We lost one of greats. I was fortunate to have had several great conversations with Adam over the last several years, and he was an amazing human and a huge inspiration. A true American original. Rest in power, amigo. If you don’t know of Adam and his incredible work, I strongly suggest you check out his Feral House Publishing company:
Wow, when Jennifer died, GERM's flyers went down hill, but I'm hopeful she would have been proud of (some of) the events I organized. RIP to Jennifer, Adam, Timothy!
Here is something I wrote on Facebook re yesterday's news about Adam:
As someone who ran a business with "Apocalypse Culture" printed on every piece of its marketing material, I obviously can't overstate the influence of Adam Parfrey on me personally. Younger folk may not truly appreciate the significance of a publisher whose authors exposed a broader population to everyone from Varg to Ed Wood. Go to the catalog (ha ha, or your own bookshelf) and just look at the list of titles!
He also remains a brilliant shit-disturbing essayist, reminding ALL that contrarianism works best when scrupulously rendered, as in this classic defense of John Hinckley, Jr. "Embodying the Byronic model of poetry and action, (he) made the 'mistake'of valuing visual poetry (Martin Scorsese’s Taxi Driver) as a greater reality, and acting accordingly." Almost makes a good eulogy. RIP
Lord, House of Feral. Greatest publisher ever. Ever. Gone far too soon. In a shrinking world of narrowing, strangled minds, Adam’s field of view and curiosity were vast. After recovering from the shock, must buy more FH books! Viva #AdamParfrey ! Viva #FeralHouse !
