Here are my top tips for BACK training ⚡️SQUEEZE: You will see every rep I am squeezing my back muscles. I hold the contracted position for 1 second. Think of cracking a walnut between your shoulder blades.
⚡️VISUALISE: Unlike other muscles, you can’t see your back when you train so mind muscle connection is crucial! With each rep think about how your muscles would be looking as you squeeze them.
⚡️RANGE OF MOTION: Use full range of motion when training back. That means fully extending your muscles before then contracting.

The photo that changed it all for me...I literally didn’t realise how much I let things get out of hand until I saw this photo of me from a night out. Do you have a photo like this? Or maybe you hate having photos taken?

The photo on the left was me training hard 15 hours a week but getting my nutrition so very wrong. I was bloated, my body was inflamed from poor food choices and alcohol. My relationship with food was an issue falling into restriction during the week but having mega binges Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Sound familiar? ▪️
The photo on the left was taken 6-12 months later. I changed my relationship with food, I trained 6 hours a week instead of a crazy 15! And I felt happier, healthier and had far more energy. ▪️
Since then I have never falling back into my old ways. I love how I feel now and how when I give my body what it wants it pays me back with what I want.

Lately I’ve felt emotionally unattached to my goals. Yesterday I was expressing this to @dougtrystofly and realized my need to pivot. It’s OK to focus on the process day to day and not know what the end game looks like. Today is day 1 of making the best of each day and focusing on the small gains as they come. 🌻

This year has been by far the worst year of my life, yet the best. I continue to amaze myself for what I have overcome in this year alone. I can’t thank my friends and family enough for providing the amount support they have always given me and the love they show me each and every day in every decision I make. You can truly get through ANY obstacle if you surround yourself with the right people who will hold and protect you the way you need in times of need. I finally feel like myself again after this chaotic year. Sometimes it takes making selfish decisions to end up exactly where you need to be. I’ve been nothing but thriving lately and that wouldn’t be possible without you guys by my side. I’m so blessed. 💗💗💗 cheers to self care and being in the best shape I’ve ever been in. 🙌🏼😜💪🏼

Heres a tip to setting up your grip on snatches. If you stand up straight holding the bar, it should sit on the crease of your hip, where your thighs and hip meet. Too low, widen your grip. Too high, go a little narrower.

Eating too much effects weight loss, now eating too little does too?

Though eating too much will effect your progress, so will not eating enough.

This is where a lot of people experience a "plateau" in their progress. 😓

👉Under eating can destroy your metabolism, the one thing you want on your side.

👎Basically telling your body it's starving, so your body decides it needs to hold on to anything it gets as fat storage.

👎Under eating can cause your body to actually eat your muscle💪🏼 and hold on to fat. to your body fat is most important to insulate your vital organs.

👎Under eating can cause hormone shifts that increase hunger to compensate for the lack of calories/nutrients.

c r e a t u r e s  of habit....so any change to our schedule is hard, difficult or extreme. You have to make conscious efforts to the new habits.  Give it a chance.  Anytime we add something new in the mix of this crazy life... it’s like asking for a colonoscopy 😂 
We just don’t have time. Nobody does. We certainly don’t have time for things that make us uncomfortable or push us out of our comfort zones. I started out SIMPLE, I had the buddy system and I stuck to the plan. 
The time will go by regardless, but it’s what you do each day during that time that changes the outcome. 💪🏻

I focus on nutrition and usually don’t train people in person but kudos to Dr. @jtwong8 for getting through a glutes & abs workout! 🙌🏻 She can do 9 strict pull-ups, 15 kipping pull-ups, and deadlift 210lbs x 3 💪🏻 so it was super interesting to see how CrossFitters respond to a different type of training. For one thing, she definitely said a lot of it burned lol🍑🔥

I was dumbfounded that she’d rather do burpees for some of the exercises though! 😵 lol But she went through it all and I loved her attitude as shown on her shirt: #StrongerThanYesterday. 💪🏻 Now if only some of her love of cardio and conditioning could rub off on me, I’d be way leaner…lol

On a completely different note, I realized I was literally bigger than 90% of the guys at this particular gym. I know I’m bigger than the average female but I think those guys were just smaller guys. So I’ve taken a hiatus of posting workouts for this week - also due to the fact that the workout I had planned to film yesterday was a bit rubbish!

#TransformationTuesday when I was shredded! 💪🏻 I didn’t even know my arms could look like that and quite frankly, it’s disgusting to me..lol It’s not healthy to be that lean year round and it’s not a realistic goal to strive for either unless you’re doing a bodybuilding show.

One major problem people have with reaching their goal is not being realistic!! Everyone wants to lose weight faster or build muscle faster. They may see some results and think it’s really slow. So they decide it’s not working and try something else. Many don’t give what they’ve been trying enough time! Or they don’t even track their results properly to begin with.

If you have a sound plan, be patient and make sure you track your results in more ways than just the scale. The scale doesn’t show you the change in your body composition. Weight loss is not the same as fat loss. You want to lose FAT and not muscle. There’s a reason why there’s the saying, trust the process!

2009 photoshoot with Natural Bodybuilding & Fitness Magazine 💪🏻. At the time, I had 7 years of weight lifting experience and even though I was fit enough for a photoshoot, I still had an issue with my eating 😩.

I LOVED food like I do now but I didn’t know how to eat “normally.” I would still go on crash diets to try to lose weight I’d gain from binging or eating out of boredom or emotions 🙄. I knew it wasn’t a healthy relationship with food. I just didn’t want to get fat! Eating to build muscle was never something that even crossed my mind. I never had an issue with working out and going to the gym. It was always the food!

Once I changed the way I ate and learned how to eat for my goals (including getting shredded for bodybuilding shows 🏆), it all changed. Instead of just trying to not get fat, I was able to really transform my body. I learned how to not obsess over food or worry about eating unhealthy foods, and how to eat flexibly but still reach my goals.
.
I got unbelievably stronger and built more than enough muscle that I’m bigger than some guys 😅(not a goal). I’m about 5lbs heavier/bigger than my current maintenance goal but I’ll get there eventually and I’m ok with where I’m at now.

All this led me to create The Weight Loss Game Changer System to help teach others how to transform their bodies, change their body composition 💪🏻, and eat for their goals as their bodies change.

Talking about back day or back exercises isn’t NEARLY as sexy as promoting ab or booty exercises BUT training your back is crucial for a few different reasons:
1. POSTURE. Neglecting your back can lead to some structural imbalances that may look like rounded shoulders coming forward—especially if you’re sitting at a desk all day at work.
2. EASE OF DAILY LIVING. Our back muscles play a key stabilization role. A strong back makes all of our daily actions safer and more stable: running, moving furniture, lifting weights, carrying groceries, etc.
3. BALANCE. I know you want a flat tummy, but doing 100 hundred crunches a day won’t get you there. In fact, you could even create muscle imbalances that cause you pain & discomfort (esp. low back). Work both front & back.
4. LOOK BACK AT IT. Ladies, I know you love those ultra sexy low back dresses or tops. We may not see our backs all the time, but I guarantee you when you train your back & put on one of those outfits, NOTHING is sexier & more empowering than showing off those lats.

Happy #FlexFriday 💪🏻 I’ve given up on trying to incorporate more biceps work. Getting the peak isn’t enough motivation for me. That’s the #1 issue I see with people’s motivation... they don’t have that strong emotional underlying reason to help them stick to something and stay consistent.

My motivation and my reasons have to do with my sense of self. I believe I am a person who can achieve goals and I’m all about constantly progressing in every aspect of my life. It’s the continual journey of growth and pushing myself beyond my limits.

It is tied to who I believe I am! I also can’t be a hypocrite if I’m teaching and coaching people how to transform their bodies and be healthy if I don’t live the lifestyle myself!

Wall Balls are a great workout to build endurance and strength. Make sure when you catch the ball, that you go past parallel. The reason is twofold.

1) Use your legs to absorb the weight, this translates to squat cleans and other olympic lifts

2) Starting from that low position gives you the momentum to drive the ball up.

I got my first box yesterday (you get one seasonally so it’s the fall 🍂 box) and I’m so pumped! I’ve been going back & forth on these subscription boxes & decided to go for this one when I saw the types of products that came with it—they’re full sized, great quality, and not just limited to one industry (beauty, fitness, skincare, etc). You can choose to customize/choose what goes in your box OR be completely surprised. I customized a lot of mine because I wanted to be sure I was getting what I wanted and then they delighted me even further with some surprise goodies too! Highlights include: a freaking FRENCH PRESS ☕️ which I’ve always wanted and a new make-up brush set & cute umbrella 🌂(which I desperately needed). I’m not sponsored but just wanted to share because for the price, I’m pretty blown away!
