How to make a @rekabooch animation: 1 boatload of imagination + 2 arms full of creativity + a bucket of dark humor + throw a party for goofy animal creatures. Mix ingredients together. Let sit until nominated for a damn award from @theacademy . Her first film, “Symphony No. 42” is an amazing little short about nothing and everything, shortlisted for an Oscar in 2014. #2 , “LOVE”, was longlisted in 2016. The clip above is just a small sampling of the magic that is “Solar Walk,” which this year won the Audi Short Film Award at Berlinale and just two weeks ago qualified for an Oscar after nabbing the Grand Prize at Ottawa International Animation Festival. In short, here’s hoping third film’s the charm for the brilliant Reka Bucsi!! Finger’s crossed for that shiny golden naked dude trophy 🤞🏆🌟✨. 👀 Watch “Solar Walk” for a limited time via link in bio!! #wcw#ladieswithlenses#oscars2019#womeninfilm#femalefilmmakers#academyawards2019

'A Little Snapshot from The Doc Experience'
This experience has truly been one of the most enlightening, humbling and inspiring journeys of my life. Sometimes you make a decision to do what you love and the universe will give you so much more than what you asked for. Before coming to film in the Kibrera Slum I could have never imagined how at home I would feel.
You hear so many negative things from people on the outside looking in. My experience has been beautiful!
Yes life is different, yes life is difficult for the people living there, yes you have to have your wits about you, but the love, the vibe and the energy of the people compares to nothing I have ever experienced. So many magical moments.
I came there with an open mind and an open heart and in return, I met the kindest, most inspiring people. Friends for life!
They dressed me up as a Nubian Princess. We danced Luluka at a Nubian wedding outside at night, rode 3 people on 1 Boda Boda, danced Kenyan style at our day party, feasted daily at our local '8 town' restaurant, went partying in one of the roughest parts of the Slum, we laughed, we hugged loads, because cuddling is happy medicine, cried happy tears and sad tears, held hands as a sign of support and comfort, watched the sunset and sunrise, sat on top of the hills watching the thunder light up over Ngong. We spoke about how we can work together, collaborating to use film for change, because you need a team for the dream.
I even joined the amazing Shutter Film Foundation team as a change maker and co-producer, inspiring Slum youth to become filmmakers and Storytellers.
We did this all, while capturing some of the most amazing and magical footage with the Nubian Tribe for our Documentary 'The Other Tribe' Coming soon 🎬📽 Words and edit by @thechronicelsofapril
